Yes, I think I would say Drama. Only because most of the story lines were serious.

Can't think of anything else it would be called..... it's not a sitcom, not a "tragedy", not a game show!, not sports! ..... what are you thinking ??

Drama best suits The Waltons, I agree. But I have to say that it has such a variety of storylines that different episodes could be given different labels: The Inferno 'historical', The Changeling 'horror', The Statue 'comedy', The Love Story 'romance' and, well, there are others too. I guess that that's part of the show's appeal, it covers an awful lot of ideas.

I think it could be described as family drama, meaning that it is drama that the entire family can watch and enjoy.

Science Fiction. ;D just joking.
They wouldnt be living THAT good in the depression. Then again, nobody would want to watch a real portrayal of the depression. It would be too..,uh, depressing.
I bet The waltons were RICH compared to The Real Hamners.
You never really see a REAL winter season on the series. That is my only semi-complaint of the series. They had maybe 2 episodes with snow in it.

Virginia gets some snow but not as much as some northern states I bet and not as cold either, hence less winter on the show. That doesn't mean it doesn't’ snow in Virginia because I know it does. Wmsportwriter Besides the snow on theWaltons was fake confetti maybe?
