One of my favorite things was grandpa talking to Jim bob, when GW was killed. When someone dies we are racked with regret that we fear that we said something we hadn't ought a said or left unsaid or wish we had said. A word of praise or love. If you love, admire and respect someone it is not a bad idea to tell them so, from time to time. That way it makes living a lot better for them and for you. ~~~Grandpa Zebulon 'Zeb' Walton

The talk that John Boy and Grandpa had on the mountain when John Boy was preparing in the Sermon. My grandpa and I used to have private talks like that and called them quiet hours. That talk brought back memories. My favorite John/John Boy talk was on the cliff of the Mountain in the Easter Story, maybe the most dramatic scene in the series. Waltonsportwriter

GRANDPA You can't own a mountain any more than you can own an ocean or a piece of the sky. You hold it in trust. You live on it, you take life from it, and once you're dead, you rest in it

When grandpa explains selective tree cutting to John-boy. There is so much clear cutting going on and we have to deal with erosion problems. I appreciate grandp's hoticulture advice.

GRANDPA You can't own a mountain any more than you can own an ocean or a piece of the sky. You hold it in trust. You live on it, you take life from it, and once you're dead, you rest in it That is truly a wonderful quote. Two more of my favorites; I believe John-Boy says this, "If we learned to listen we'd hear all kinds of miracles". John, "He's just a young fellow, not to experience in the job of living".
