I didn't know that RT wears hearing aids.....You could never tell it with his performances....
But I just read that when he was in his 30's, he lost 50% of his hearing in both his ears....How does that happen at such a "young" age?
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, cuz my dad suffered with tinnitis the last 15 yrs or so of his life, and he was miserable to the day he died...Cuz no hearing aid could help him - only made it worse....

Yes, he's been wearing hearing aids in both ears since the early to mid 80's.... and is a major "activist" for the hearing-impaired as spokesman and contributor to charities and research.... It is, however, not something you'd easily hear about -- he doesn't broadcast it.....
He suffers from otosclerosos -- a not too incommon nerve disorder.....

Well, it's not a nerve disorder - it's a condition of the inner bones of your ear that don't grow properly and could lead to what my dad had...

As I understand it, the "sponginess" of the bones affects the nerves, whch causes the hearing loss.... At least, that's what they told my father, who had it, too !? [nerves communicate to the brain, bones don't......]

I was born in the same year as Thomas, so I can appreciate his aging process! I wish him well.
