I thought Amy was wonderful for Ike and Corabeth. Does anyone know why she was written out and then why did they bring in a new actress for some of the movies? Just curious and I googled Rachel Longaker's name but did not see anything to answer?

I'm not sure why Rachel left the show. I don't know if she quit or decided to leave.

What I thought was odd was that Aimee and Elizabeth started out the same age and when they brought in the new actress she became older than Elizabeth.

I agree Carol..the new Amy looked way older. Anyways, I was hoping with all of the long term fans on this site I might get an answer. So far, all I see is a few people actually talking and the majority just taking advantage of the rest of us who actually post.

Wasn't it suppose to look like Aimee had become sophisticated at the private school so she learned to dress and act older?

Something I found online dated 2010:
Rachel Longaker is a research assistant for the Digital Mellini project at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles, California. She also works for the Getty’s Scholars’ Program, assisting visiting scholars with the Research Institute’s on site and on line resources. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature (French and English) from Brown University and recently earned a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research interests are in digital art history and collection information management for museums.
Email: rlongaker@getty.edu
FYI, there was also a fairly recent photo of her...... hasn't changed much !! Oh, and, according to IMDB, she was in only 16 episodes of The Waltons -- I would have thought more.....

That's about half the length of one series, it seems like it should be at least twenty!

That's interesting, because I got the 13 number from IMDB about a year ago! I guess it must be a little inaccurate then. Perhaps somebody realised an error and updated it to the correct number: 16.

Take a look -- they list the sixteen episodes...... and, I don't think that includes one movie.....

However, usually folks want to provide an answer -- in this case, I suspect no one knows..... I provided her email addy == why don't you write her and ask..... !!!

There were a number of episodes in the later years that involved some of the other main characters so that was why Amy did not have a part in them, and that was why she appeared in so few episodes .

I remember seeing the Amy actress in the movie Oh God with John Denver and George Burns about 1977 I think. It fits the timeline pretty good. Wmsportwriter
