Just some Walton's thoughts I wondered. When was the last episode that Richard Thomas and Ellen Corby, John Boy and Grandma appeared in the regular episodes. It had to be Season 5 before John Boy left, and Ellen's stroke. Of course they reunited inthe reunion movies. Jim Bob and Elizabeth. We're my vote for closest siblings. Who were yours? I wonder which cast members were the closest of friends outside of the show. If you had to put a Walton character on another show past or present what do you think would be a good role for them.. Just some Walton's food for thought. Let me know anything interesting you think of and talk soon. Watching the Sermon and Genius tonight trying to get some Walton's inspiration lol. Best wishes waltonsportwriter

The Ferris Wheel is the last time Esther appears before her stroke, but her role in that episode is tiny! I think she's just standing in the hallway in one scene (I imagine Ellen Corby had her stroke while filming this episode) and I don't believe she interacts at all with John-Boy, so you could argue that their last appearance 'together' was The Rebellion. One thing I'll never understand is why John-Boy wasn't in Grandma Comes Home! He'd already not seen her for over a year. And closest siblings? I'd either agree with you and say Jim-Bob and Elizabeth, or maybe Mary Ellen and Erin once they get a bit older. Nice thread

Yes AR15 I was going to agree with you. I was going to say The Best Christmas was the last time Ellen and the whole family were together at least in unison and full memory. The Rebellion and Ferris Wheel were likely after that. I also didn't understand why Richard Thomas/John Boy couldn't have come back for one more episode in Season Six with Grandma Comes Home. Of course no one knew Will Geer would die that summer. But John Boy had come back for the Return about the mine and the episode where he gets engaged to Daisy. Anyway it's too bad for Waltons history that we didn't see him in that episode. As for the siblings I'll agree with what you said maybe Jim Bob and Ben or Ben and Jason as well. John Boy interacted with everbody. It would be interesting to ask at the reunion who were close real life friends. As for where I think the Waltons could go for other appearances. Richard Thomas acted in several movies. Perhaps he could have been funny like his late buddy John Ritter in Threes Company. Judy Norton might have made a good detective type on a law show or a nurse of course lol. Mary Mcdonough still acts and she would make a good soap opera actress. Maybe Days or GH should give her a call marylou. As for the rest of the family I really dont see them acting beyond their Waltons experience not that they couldnt, but it wasn't their main interest. And of course Michael Learned and Ralph Waite continue to act in their 70s and 80s Amazing! Best wishes and talk soon. waltonsportwriter

Richard has always seemed the type for more serious roles unlike John Ritter. I could absolutely see Judy in something like Law and Order. Thats a great idea about Mary in a soap. Michael did a stint on GH a year or so ago and she was great. Also I watched her in a older Law and Order the other night where she played a villain Grandmother. She can pull off any role. Yes, Elizabeth and Jim Bob were the closet but I think Erin and Mary Ellen were right behind them in my opinion. I would like to know also who were the closet in real life. I believe I heard somewhere that Richard, John Ritter and Henry Winkler were good friends..... Anyone know anything about that?
