I'm disappointed lately that they've cut back on Waltons episodes lately. There was no Waltons episode on GMC Friday today, and they used to have a Friday marathon. I know they want to work in newer old shows like 7th Heaven which is good for tv, but we're Waltons fans so it sucks. There wont likely be a Waltons network so we either watch and buy DVDs which can get expensive or take what they give us which they're cutting back again. Disappointing. But at least we have the Forum to talk. Talk soon. And having ads for the reunion for those of us who are far away or cant afford to attend we'll that's pointless if they don't televise it. Just ranting sorry. Best wishes. waltonsportwriter

the waltons just make me feel safe somehow. I loved the show for the family and scenery and general good feeling, back when it was shown. I love it even more now, because as i've got older,it's my slippers:-)

I'm thinking about buying the DVD's here and there, can't purchase all at once, to expensive. I would like to see how much the networks are cutting out of each episode for the sake of commercials.

Indeed! I've done this with other shows from the DVD set. There's a fair difference between what you see on a DVD that claims to contain the broadcast original; never mind the actual original. The end product for re-run on commercial television can be incongruous, to say the least. mercantile

If I did get all the DVDs I might not watch it much on television and get rid of those essential but annoying commercials! waltonsportwriter ;D

Get DVD's and get rid of the pay tv. A lot cheaper in the long run.

I agree. And depending on how many current-run television shows you watch, it's much cheaper to simply download them for $1.99/episode. I watch two television shows. If I download all eight episodes (which I don't, but let's say I do), it'd cost me $16 per month. Let's add Netflix to that for $10 a month. So now, I'm up tio $26 permonth. With no taxes added on either. $26 a month is much cheaper than the $60+ month plus for standard cable. (Plus, I'm not paying for crap that I either don't watch or dont approve of). In addition, consider websites such as the following: topdocumentaryfilms.com/ (A site loaded with documentaries of all types, all for free, without need registration). - and - ov,guide.com (yet another free site that doesn't require sign up or logons; streams Hulu among others.) That aside, I just watched The Best Years Of Our Lives, and Roots on Youtube. The point is, why hand your hard-earned money over to Dish, Comcast and other rip-off entities that air basically crap? Their lack of interest in giving their customers on-demand "a la carte" options is going to run them out of business.

I think the shows are lessons about relationships - Husbands and Wives, Parents and Children, Grown Children and Their Elders, Siblings, People and Friends. All of the shows are excellent examples of how to treat people. If everyone treated people with the kindness portrayed on The Waltons, the world would be a better place.
