Here is a good article I found today about the Topanga Film Festival and Will Geer. Hounded out of Hollywood: Topanga film festival and the legacy of Will Geer. Anyone who is going to California in September, this is an intersting place to visit. I went there in 2007, and there was some kind of children's concert going on. The lady at the ticket booth was very friendly and told us lots of things about the Theatricum Botanicum, and said we were welcome to walk around the grounds as long as we didn't interrupt the concert. When I told her I was a Waltons' fan, she said that Ellen Geer would be there later in the day if I wanted to meet her, because she loves to talk to fans of her father. We didn't have time to wait around though. Well, I would have waited, but my husband didn't want to.

I would love to visit there, however it's very doubtful I'll ever get to CA. Not with 5 dogs, 20 ducks, 35 sheep and 6 chickens, whose gonna want to take care of all that for a few day? Anyway if ya'll get there, would love to see pictures.
Thanks

Anyway if ya'll get there, would love to see pictures. Thanks FYI -- I frequently "house-sat" for friends who had about the same amount of livestock, which people at the office found hard to believe I would tackle! You might be surprised if you ask around among your friends...... Two horses, two hogs, 6 turkeys, 20 chickens, 12 geese, 8 Merino sheep, 1 cow, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 parrots...... The only ones I didn't "get along with" were the turkeys. Nasty birds! An old tom actually cornered me in the house one day -- I'd try getting out the back door, there he was. Tried to fool him by going out the front but there he was, jumping at me with wings flapping and talons high -- had to call a friend to come over and attract him away..... had no idea turkeys could be so smart. Other than the turkeys, didn't much care for the pigs either..... All this on only ten acres..... Man, oh, man -- getting up at 4am to get all the critters fed, watered, turned out, etc., etc.... Not to mention mucking out! It was a real hoot and I loved doing it !!! Unfortunately, they moved away. I miss those days.....

Most of my friends have their own livestock to take care of along with their jobs! I start back Aug 21th

Brenda, I'm sure you enjoyed visiting the Theatricum Bontanicum, I would love it. Hope you get the chance to go back and meet Ellen Greer! I wonder if she could be the "mystery guest?" I've wanted to go to Cali since I was little, maybe someday I'll make it but the opportunity to attend a Walton reunion of this magnitude will never happen again! I hope everyone has a wonderful time and post some pics for us

Ellen Geer will be at Kami's 40th Walton's Celebration on Sat. 9/29/12. Brenda is going to that, maybe she will be able to meet her there. Who knows she may also come to the Walton's Fan reunion on Fri. 9/28/12!

Ellen Geer has not been to any of the reunions I have attended, and I have been to most of them since 1998.

I had been trying to determine if, when you said re the Topanga visit not "meeting" Ellen due to hubby, would have been a first meeting..... I thought sure Ellen had been to most of the reunions (thought you had, too).... have no clue as to where I got these ideas !

Well. I have missed 2 or 3 of the reunions in the past 14 years, but I have been to most of them.
