A lot of you may already know about this site. I have been using it for several years now. If you want to look up any famous person's gravesite, go to www.findagrave.com and click on famous, then type in their name. You will get a picture of them, pictures of their gravestone, gravesite, crypt, etc.....as well as info on them. You can look up Miss Emily (Mary Jackson), Miss Mamie (Helen Kleeb), Ellen Corby (Grandma Walton), etc.....

That is a good site. I've also been using it for years. In addition to famous people, you can also find many other people. People who are into genealogy have found family members and information about their birth and death dates and where they are buried by using findagrave. I have even submitted several memorials from an old family cemetery in North Carolina where my grandparents are buried.

I like it too. I am into genealogy and I found a picture of an old tombstone for an ancestor and his wife who died in the late 1800's

I discovered it about four years ago and managed to find the grave of a great uncle, along with date of death, etc...... for some reason, he wasn't included on the Social Security Death Index.....

Yes... It's an interesting site. I go there from time to time, usually after trawling IMDb and not getting the answer I was looking for. Very informative.

I tried to find my late grandpa (on my dad side.) late grandma & late step-grandpa (on my mom side.) on there. But, they're not in there. Does the family add them in the find grave website?

Yes, Buttercup, it's usually the family who posts the info. On rare occasions, the cemetery may be working on including everyone they inter, but that takes time..... As the years go by, more and more info will become available online.

I never knew where my Grandmother was buried. I tried to find out one time and never heard anything further about it. Perhaps I will visit this site and find out.

Hey Df - if you know what city and state she was buried in, you can type that in, and then it will bring back a listing of cemteries in that area - maybe you can search there....You can also check the census records online as well, and familysearch.org is a good source as well...Hope this helps..

I've spent the last couple of years tracking my family tree -- mostly on Ancestry.com which inevitably leads to "new friends" who can suggest many other sites. Have now traced all four direct lines back to pre-Revolutionary days in the US, as well as one line back to Scotland in 1690 and another to The Netherlands in the early 1600's...... Never thought all this was possible. It takes a lot of work, so you really need the passion to do it......

Sorry to say that I did not go ahead with the plan to check out the grave since it stated you had to join first. The problem was with my aunt and uncle who had become burdened with three elderly family members and eventually became embittered toward the rest of the family. Later the rift was healed but not until after my mother and other aunt had died.Even though I visited them afterwards I never got around to asking them where my grandmother was buried. I just beleive it is somewhere in Nassau County, New York .
