a reunion movie? or Insp or gmc? Why dont all 3 of them jointly fund one, and then they could show each the movie on all 3 networks? They could take turns.
they make made for tv movies so why not a Waltons movie?...

I don't know if maybe there's some kind of rights....name ownership, etc. I can only imagine the cost! I worked in radio for several years and I know we had to pay BMI/ASCAP for all music rights. Twice a year we had to log every song played so writters got their royalties. I had sponsors for every "special" show I had, all other spots were aired before/after "special." I'm sure cost is the main issue.

awesomemix - I have often wondered the same thing myself. I know it would have a huge audience. The ring tone on my cellphone is the Walton's theme song. Every time it goes off in public people smile and shout out 'The Waltons!'. I keep hoping that maybe the light will come on in the heads of the producers in television and they'll realize that our society is ready for a show like The Waltons again (of course there will NEVER be a show as good as The Waltons), but a good wholesome show that teaches values; God knows our society needs it!! But I would be satisfied with a reunion movie

10 -20years ago-a show like The Waltons couldnt work. It would have been cancelled. Anybody remember "I fly away" or that Family show with james Earl jones as the head of a african american family?
they could do a show like that now. Nbc is a disaster, they should give it a shot. Might as well gve it a shot.Their shows are terrible.

Think of the demographics too. The Walton's aired about thirty years after WWII. Those who lived through it were still living, and could relate to the stories and concepts. If you put a show on today about WWII, it might earn a good following, but probably wouldn't be a revenue-maker. Television tends to follow existing trends, and not much toward history (at least long-term history).
Of course there are always exceptions... But I think that's the reason the show wouldn't make it today.
