I love how simple life is portrayed on The Waltons. They enjoy one another and make the best of what they have or don't. So, what is it that you have done or would like to do to make life more simpler? Some things I have done are; baking and cooking more from scratch, I take pride in doing dishes ( no paper plates here), I planted a garden, and since the weather has been so hot, I try and dry all my clothes outside... These are just some of mine, what are yours?

Growing vegetables from seed, organic produce from sustainable resources, looking to buy off energy companies to a green alternative. Children's clothes handed down and a sense of reward when a home-made meal feeds a large table.
So much to do, and yet more than enough time!

Well--I like the Waltons because I feel that our life is alot like the Waltons (w modern technologies). But the Waltons had their new technologies of their time also (telephone, washer, tv, etcv). I ALWAYS cook from scratch, we have a huge garden that sustains us all year, live on a road w no neighbors, live in a small town, have lots of children, and have alot of the same values. We have a pond, and that is where we swim in summer. We also have small mountains--big ones nearby.

I think we need to define "simple" -- I don't see that cooking from scratch or hanging clothes outside is in any way "simple" !? I do feel that The Waltons portrayed a wholesome, close family, with good values. But I don't think the lack of today's modern conveniences contributed one iota. Perhaps a lower level of mass communication made for a simpler existence and also is now affecting our current "way of life." Unfortunately, such things cannot be undone, nor should they ..... In any event, things like cooking from scratch do not a good person make !!! On the other hand, if doing such things makes one feel good, relieves some stress, etc., go for it

"Simple" not elaborate: lacking decoration or embellishment and therefore plain in appearance not complex: made up of or having only one part or element.... The Walton's life was not elaborate, and was very plain, they didn't have a lot of the modern conveniences, in their time, and I do believe that not having them, made them appreciate the little things. They didn't need to have the most up to date appliances, decorations, etc... People now have to compete with modern technology. Cooking from scratch or hanging clothes, to me is simple, in that my cooking isn't elaborate, it is GOOD... It doesn't have to be elaborate to be GOOD. Things back in their time were not as elaborate as things are now, but they still worked good, if not better. I just love how they portray a family who worked hard, and enjoyed life as if they were rich.

I believe every generation thinks they would have preferred to live in past times. Their parents and grandparents only tell them the good stuff! While it's thoroughly enchanting to experience The Waltons, it borders on fantasy. Still, I'm addicted.

I so totally agree with what jeeprose and j7nep05 just said..I too grow my own veggies and LOVE hanging laundry outdoors to dry...Also appreciating the sounds of what nature has to offer as well in my own backyard, instead of watching tv, or being on a computer....And listening to stories told by my elders while sipping on a cool glass of lemonade in 90000 degree weather, and sitting on the front stoop...

I would like to learn to be a REAL HOMEMAKER like that is spoken of in Scripture. A real Titus 2:3-5, Proverbs 31 woman.
Titus 2:3-5 the older women likewise are to be set-apart in behaviour, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of what is good, (4) in order for them to train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, (5) to be sensible, blameless, workers at home, good, subject to their own husbands, in order that the word of Elohim is not evil spoken of.
Proverbs 31:10-31 Who does find a capable wife? For she is worth far more than rubies. (11) The heart of her husband shall trust her, And he has no lack of gain. (12) She shall do him good, and not evil, All the days of her life. (13) She shall seek wool and flax, And with delight she works with her hands. (14) She shall be as the ships of Tarshish, She brings in her food from afar. (15) She also rises while it is still night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her girls. (16) She shall consider a field and buy it; From her profits she shall plant a vineyard. (17) She shall gird herself with strength, And strengthen her arms. (18) She shall taste when her gain is good; Her lamp does not go out by night. (19) She shall stretch out her hands to the distaff, And her hand shall hold the spindle. (20) She shall extend her hand to the poor, And she shall reach out her hands to the needy. (21) She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is dressed in scarlet. (22) She shall make tapestry for herself; She is dressed in fine linen and purple. (23) Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. (24) She shall make fine linen and sell them, And shall give girdles for the merchants. (25) Strength and splendour are her garments, And she rejoices in time to come. (26) She shall open her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the Torah of kindness. (27) She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. (28) Her children shall rise up and call her blessed; Her husband too, and he praises her: (29) “Many daughters have done nobly, But you have risen over them all.” (30) Loveliness is deceptive And prettiness is vain, A woman who fears éäåä is to be praised. (31) Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her works praise her in the gates.
That is my GOAL.
