Can someone 'remind' me why John-Boy is using a cane in Season 5? I am guessing there must have been a 'real life' injury?

I believe it was because, in real life, Richard Thomas was in a motorbike accident while filming scenes for a movie, so they just wrote that John-Boy had also been in a random motorbike accident.

You're welcome. It took some digging to find that snippet. Makes me wonder if they should have used a stuntman seeing as, according to the article, Richard had never ridden a motorbike until two days before the accident.

I saw the two eppys last night where he was on the cane and was wondering too.
I really enjoyed the movie - quite a diversion from John-Boy.
