I've been surfing YouTube lately, in an attempt to find good Depression-area music. World War II as well, but less so as I like piano-driven stuff. (Thank God for YouTube! So much music can be found there). Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions any of you may have.
For those of you who are decent piano players, can you play as Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson do? HOLY COW! I love the expressions on these guys faces - as if what they are doing is a walk in the park! Go to YouTube and type in "Boogie Woogie Dream Albert Ammons" and be blown away. Great fun to watch as well!
I also found a lot of Carter Family stuff, such as "No Depression In Heaven". Really interesting theme on that one.
Your ideas?
