I'm watching 'The Scholar" as we speak on dvr. One of the best episodes in the series. Won the emmy for best writing that year.
She is a great actress. I would have watched a spin off series with that character.

I met Lynn Hamilton at the 2007 reunion in California. She was also at one of the Virginia reunions, probably at least 10 years ago. She is a very special person. I always liked the character of Verdie too.

Thankyou so very much for all the reply's and I'm so pleased to hear she's alive and well. I watched the scholar too , and she was such a proud woman , that it was hard to ask John Boy for help learning to read. I'd love to attend the reunion in california but I sadly cannot make it. She was one of my favorite character's. I'd Love to shake her hand and tell her what a fine job she did with her character. She put her heart into it Body & Sole. I give her 5 ***** Star's up ^^^^^

I had the privilege of conversing very briefly with Ms. Hamilton at the Jersey City showing of The Homecoming last fall. I thanked her for her work on the series, and she was a very gracious and welcoming lady. I respect her a lot.

One of the best actresses on The Waltons! I loved "Vertie." She sounds like a great lady to know.

Got this online:
Verdie meaning and name origin: VERDIE as a girl's name is a variant of Vera (Russian, Slavic), and the meaning of Verdie is "faith."
Hmmm.... I had assumed it came either from "verdant" meaning green, lush..... or "verity" meaning truth.....
Went searching because I wondered if it was a nickname for something longer...... must search further !
