wmfan, did you notice the guy (Steve) that created that site also posted here?
Steve, I just love your site. I have it as a main bookmark so I can take some time each day to go read some more. You did a fantastic job on everything...it is complete! Well, really I would have liked to put up more detailed plot-lines/synopses (about a paragraph for each episode?) but having to do 215 of them left me cold. I mean, 30 I could manage, but "The Waltons" just had so many episodes! Also the goodnight speeches, too. I think with both of those (the longer synopses and the goodnight speeches), it would be more or less complete. Maybe I could team up with one of the other sites which have these things, and add eveything together and put it out under joint credit. Absolutely. I've done similar for years on other forums; it's always a pleasure to share whenever possible. mercantile

Fascinating link about the Waltons Dewlanna! Ididn't know much about Miss Hunter's actress name either. Will she be at the reunion? I always liked her teaching and the way she took care of John Boy and the other schoolchildren. Good read Dew. Have fun at the reunion! Best wishes waltonsportwriter Hi! Yes, Mariclare will be at the Reunion. I really like her character as well.

Does anyone know about the actress that played Miss Hunter? For one of the main supporting characters she doesnt seem to be known or talked about as much. How late into the series did she go? I think the last one I remember was was Mary Ellen delivered her baby in the storm Season 5 I think. It would be cool if she were at the reunion if she were alive and well. Best wishes waltonsportwriter. Thanks Dew I didn't read above for your comment about Miss Hunter. She reminds me of a first grade teacher I had about that same time and I like how she inspired John Boy's writing.

played by Patricia O'Neal, who is the biggest shock to the system for viewers more familiar with Michael Learned's later version of the same character. O'Neal's much rougher, less gentle "Livy" sounds like she regularly gets through a whole bottle of neat moonshine – and 60 smokes – a day! -------------------------------------------------------------------------

The special unwisely tries to mix fiction and documentary in the same show, and the final result falls between the two stools. The fictional parts have the available 1972 members of cast (only, so no Cindy, Rose etc.) planning Grandma's birthday party. This causes them to remember past events and thus provides the cues for the old clips... Where things come unstuck is when Earl Hamner walks straight into the fictional action à la Rod Serling on The Twilight Zone. It really is quite weird to see the actors in character sitting in silence around the kitchen table in as Hamner (permanently wearing sunglasses for some reason) continues his narration behind them.
The last part of the anniversary show is more ambitious – the actors "meet" their real-life counterparts. Somebody made the very bad decision to have each encounter done with a split screen: actor on the left, corresponding Hamner family member on the right, with questions and responses filmed separately. Since nobody is actually speaking live to their counterpart, the "conversations" are necessarily scripted in advance, with the assorted Hamners clearly reading their responses straight from cue cards. Yes, the result is as atrociously stilted and hideously embarrassing as it sounds. Only one of the encounters even vaguely works: Jon Walmsley (Jason) and his opposite number, Cliff Hamner, who seem to have genuinely enjoyed a beer (or 10) together some years earlier. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah, lol, that "decade" special was odd....

She definitely had that deep smoker's voice. The two Livy's couldn't be more different. I'm loving the blonde Livy!

I found it to be quite good and interesting. It brought something to mind. In The Carousel, Season 9 there is the scene of Cindy riding the carousel when she is 2-4 years old. There is no credit for who plays this part. Is it possible that they might have used a picture of Cindy{Leslie Winston} when she was that age and simply transposed it on the screen as she rode the horse?

To answer wmfans question, Mariclaire Costello played the part of Miss Hunter/Mrs Fordwick. I think she has had guest appearances in other shows but I do not know which ones. The most reliable source for such infor is still imdb.com

Is that on Steve's website? I'm gonna have to take him over my knee. Although clever, funny..... to say such things about a brilliant and accomplished actress like Patricia Neal!! Harrumpf...... Those of you who aren't familiar with her work and personal history should read up on her.... quite remarkable.

Very well done, Steve! A great website. I especially liked your commentary om the various seasons and episodes. I agred with a good deal of it, but not all. As commentary should be.
I like the idea of sharing/consolidating the information between sites if that's at all a possibility.

No - totally beyond the technology of the time. It was just a young actress (in a rather bad wig).
