My favorite seasons are 1-5. Season 1 was a very good start, but in season 2 The Waltons really hit their stride. In the first five seasons, There were very few bad episodes, and I think the series was in it's prime, but seasons 6-9 gets a bit spotty as the series goes on. Just my opinion.

I like seasons 2 and up. There were really good ones in 1 but it always kinda got me how in the first few episodes of the series some of them had a little bit of a southern accent then thank goodness it disappeared.

I like seasons 1-5 the most. I enjoy season 6 as well, but it was hard for me to watch without Richard Thomas. The rest of the series, there are episodes I really just would like to forget they even made!

My favorite Seasons were 1-5, because all the original cast was on there these Seasons. I also like Seasons 6-7 because Grandma came back and Grandpa was still alive and on thses two Seasons.

I think most of us will agree Seasons 1-5 with the whole cast and ending with Richard Thomas leaving in the Achievment were the best. Then there was Season 6 before Will Geer passed and Ellen Corby had a stroke in this time. In the last few years there are some really good stories and a few dumb ones like recasting Curt or some weird ones like the Portrait or Changeling. But its fun to watch the kids grow older even though Olivia gets sick and eventually leaves the cast for awhile. Ralph Waite stayed almost to the end although its the kids and supporting characters who close the show up along with new John Boy you cant replace an original Richard Thomas with Robert Wightman but he's ok. Anyway I've watched most any of the episodes and tape my favorites. Best wishes. wmfan

For sure the early ones. When Grandpa died and Grandma had her stroke it was never the same. And when Olivia got sick and moved to Arizona the foundation of the show was gone

For sure the early ones. When Grandpa died and Grandma had her stroke it was never the same. And when Olivia got sick and moved to Arizona the foundation of the show was gone I agree, it went a bit watery when John Boy left but when Olivia leaves it hardly feels worth watching after that. I admit there are some good episodes here and there in the final two seasons, but after season 7 the family is too thinned out. What disappoints me is that when John leaves to be with Olivia Elizabeth is the youngest and is left at home which I felt was not right as she was so young. I really think that John, Olivia and Grandma should have returned for the final episode, it began with the family and should have ended with them altogether. The Walton house is a real empty nest in season 9....
