This is probably one of the weirder questions/comments that's ever been posted on the forum, but since I'm posting it and it's about Jim-Bob, it should be no surprise.
I just watched "The Thanksgiving Story, Part 1," and there was one scene where Jim-Bob had to *shout* something. For a tween-aged kid, at the time, his voice really seemed quite loud.
In later episodes, where Jim-Bob's character was older and his voice had changed, it still seemed like it had the ability to carry without much effort.
My questions are: * What range would you say Jim-Bob's voice is after it "changed"? Deep baritone? Bass? I know one thing for sure -- it's definitely *not* a tenor! * What is David Harper's voice like in real life? for those who have met him? Does his voice really *boom* like it appears to on the show?
I am asking because I'm still plugging along on that multi-part fan fiction, and somewhere in the story -- I'm not quite sure where -- I'll need to write a description of Jim-Bob's voice and I'll want to know the right words to use.
Thanks in advance, Debby

Yes it was, Marilyn. I was watching a rare Sunday Waltons-A-Thon on GMC while doing my Sunday night homework. I am asking for other viewers/fans opinions on Jim-Bob's voice because I am notoriously tone-deaf and do not have an ear to judge men's and women's voice ranges, though I am good at judging natural loudness v. natural softness, and David's/Jim-Bob's voice did seem to "boom" no matter what age he was.
Thanks again, Debby

Thought maybe I missed it! We don't get GMC. I always thought he had a soft voice. Low key....

Yes, GMC is really being good to The Waltons. I'm enjoying it. Too bad Hallmark Channel, which almost everyone gets on expanded basic cable, has cut The Waltons to one episode a day. I mean, I just don't know what I'm going to do without my Jim-Bob fix! ;D Hmmm ... soft voice ... low-key ... I like that descripton! Maybe it just sounds like it booms because it's deep, or maybe because of the way the soundtrack to the episodes were recorded ... and I say that as someone whose voice *does* boom even when I'm whispering. Thank you! Debby
