He did visit UOV in The Easter Story and it is the same school that they call Boatwright in the Thanksgiving story, the Bequest and all the others.. I don't know what school they used for their sets -- probably in CA..... but, to me, it is the scripts that are important..... I can easily see referring to UVA in earlier episodes and his ending up at Boatwright.... They would have been thinking of UVA because state residents probably weren't charged tuition (and even visited it).... but then Rosemary suggested taking a test for a scholarship to Boatwright, which was also closer ..... Just trying to make sense of it.....

This discussion reminds me of how confused I used to get when my American cousins would talk about college. They used the term interchangeably with University, but in Canada the two are very distinct entities. Here Universities grant degrees, and Colleges give diplomas (with a few exceptions). I wonder why they didn't give the real name of the school he went to.

In the U.S. the terms are not really inter-changeable: a university usually offers both bachelor degrees (4-year programs) and post-graduate (masters degrees and PhD's....), while a college offers just bachelor degrees.... however, one attending a university may well say he/she is "going to college."

I'm not sure about the original question but I live in the Richmond area and can tell you a bit about the University of Richmond. Frederic Boatwright was a president of the school and there is a libary named after him. Also, the road that goes though the campus is Boatwright Dr. UR is locaated in the Westham neighborhood of Richmond so, I imagine thats were they got that name since that isn't a real town. At least not near the Hamner home. UR is a beatiful campus, I'll be there this Sat. for a football game. The football team, well... they're not so great this year but it will be fun anyway!
