Has anyone considered a "New Waltons" The next generation TV show? Just thought it would be a great idea considering the lack of good shows on T.V.

I can't imagine anyone else playing their parts though, so I could never get into a new Waltons show. My heart lies with all the original Waltons.

I agree. Other classic TV series have been revived with mediocre success at best. I say if it ain't broke,don't fix it. Leave well enough alone.

Shows like that never succeed, and I hope that they don't even try with this one.

These have been tried before. Four that come to mind are Tabitha (from Bewitched), and The Bradys (the next generation of Brady Bunch), Make Room For Granddaddy, and Bonanza. All failed. The only success I can think of are most of the Star Trek series.
For the Waltons, there would have to be a very large cast, more folks that the viewers could keep up with. Jim Bob was the only one not married by the end of the movies (and I think in real life). And it's not likely that they would all have stayed on Walton's Mountain. The era too has to be different, way past the Great Depression and World War II, even past the Kennedy assassination.
With all that said, I personally would enjoy it. I wish they would at least do another reunion movie.

In the 1980s, "Leave It To Beaver" was revived as "Still The Beaver", later renamed "The New Leave It To Beaver". It was actually good unlike most series revivals. Now it is being done with "Hawaii Five-O".
Perhaps another Walton reunion movie could be done,with Elizabeth and Drew's wedding as part of the story,along with a tribute to Ellen Corby. It would have to be in the 1970s because "A Walton Easter" took place in 1969 or 1970, around the time of the moon landings.

Looks like the new Hawaii Five-O is getting the axe.
If they did a next generation Waltons show it would probably have to take place in the 80s. All the actors are over 10 years older than when they did the last reunion movie back in the mid-90s. Sadly, the older characters have passed on, like the Baldwin sisters. The Waltons without the Baldwin sister, it's like a holiday without the recipe, though they did give the recipe for the Recipe to John and John Boy.
