This was on a Walton's page on Facebook. Olivia Walton (formerly Olivia Daly) is one of the main characters in The Waltons. She is portrayed by Patricia Neal in The Homecoming and Miss. Michael Learned in the regular series. She is the wife of John, daughter-in-law of Esther & Zebulon and the mother of John-Boy, Jason, Mary-Ellen, Ben, Erin Walton, Jim-Bob and Elizabeth. She lost a total of three babies: daughter Anne, Jim-Bob's twin brother Joseph, and an unborn baby who was posthumously named Joy.
Who is baby Anne? This is the first that I have heard of this child.

She didn’t. I’ve seen that before, and I have no idea who came up with that. It used to be on The Waltons Wikipedia page, but the good thing about Wikipedia is anyone can edit it, so I removed that incorrect piece of information. Olivia lost Jim Bob’s twin brother and she had a miscarriage. Those are the only two babies she lost, according to the episodes.
I guess it’s sort of like rumors. Someone posts something somewhere, even if it isn’t true, and eventually enough people read it and repeat it that everyone thinks it must be true. After all, it’s on the internet, so it must be true. Right? 🤦🏻♀️ There is other incorrect information that keeps coming up from time to time. Here’s one: “Virginia drowned.” No, she died, but we don’t know how she died. I’m sure I’ll think of other examples. You can probably think of some too.

There's another piece of information that I still believe is false/mistaken after all these years is the thing about Olivia's maiden name being Daly. Her maiden name was not mentioned in any episode that I can recall. Daly was the last name of Olivia's mother's sister Kate Grover Daly. And it no longer says that her maiden name was Daly on William Atkins website. I'm 99% sure it was said that Kate was Olivia's mother's sister in the episode where Olivia goes to see Kate when she started getting menopausal symptoms.

Besides the Facebook page, Anne is also mentioned on The Waltons Fandom pages. along with Olvia's maiden name being Daly, with the very same quote you gave Carol. Perhaps the Facebook page found it there. It is the only other web reference that I've found and as William Atkins pages don't mention her, I tend to concur with Brenda.

Johnny The fandom page is in wiki format, so I signed in with my google account and edited the information about Olivia. Baby “Anne” is no longer in her bio. goodnight William Atkins’ website has been around since the 1990s. His was one of the first Waltons information websites on the Internet. He used to update it regularly, but I don’t think it’s been updated for several years. I’m not sure he is still living. He used to be very careful about posting correct and proven information though. I tend to agree with you that we aren’t sure that Olivia’s maiden name was Daly just because that was her Aunt Kate’s name. Her Uncle Cody’s last name was Nelson. Was he her father’s brother? Possibly. So her maiden name could have been Nelson, or something else entirely. Like you, I don’t remember her maiden name ever being mentioned.

At least we got a maiden name for Grandma. It was Morgan and it was from one of those 1990's reunion movies with the weird timeline.
Also, Little House gave us a maiden name for Caroline. In the episode where it showed Charles and Caroline as kids. Her mother introduced herself to the Ingalls family as Mrs. Holbrook and her children, Henry, Caroline and Eliza.* Since nothing different was said I assumed at the time that was Caroline's maiden name. It was a much later episode that established her maiden name as Quiner.**
*There were actually more children in the real Quiner-Holbrook clan. And the Ingalls for that matter.
**Caroline's father Henry Quiner, Sr. was first or second mate on a ship that sank on Lake Michigan. I think it was a trading vessel.

I was thinking Olivia's maiden name was Gianni? Doris Hamner’s maiden name was Giannini. We are talking about the maiden name of the character, Olivia Walton, not the name of the real life mother of Earl Hamner.

In the episode about John's high school reunion, the script went to the trouble of having Rachel Stubblefield say that John married that little timid girl with the long braids and the Italian name. But they never said the name.
