Tonight while I was watching The Sinner on Hallmark I got to thinking about who is my favorite local on the Walton's? Now this isn't easy because there were so many wonderful characters outside of the Walton family but I think my favorite is Yancy Tucker. Robert Donner really injected such a delightful charm into the character and it was always good to see him even if it was for just one scene. That yellow and black striped hat of his was classic not to mention his faithful dog Tiger and all his pets it's hard not to like him.
Who is your favorite local resident of Waltons Mountain?

Yancy is a good one. Charm is a great term to use. He stole chickens and talked Jim Bob into buying old car parts etc. But you couldn’t get mad at him.
My favorite(s), since it would hard to separate them, are the Baldwin sisters. So sweet and naive and with no malice. They could unknowingly insult me to my face with their gentle southern charm but I just couldn’t get angry at them.

It's hard to pick just one. I'd say it's a toss up between The Baldwins and Maude Gormley.

I love the Baldwin sisters! I like to think they are distantly related to Miss Havisham from Great Expectations.

This is difficult, because there were so many memorable characters on The Waltons, and each had his or her own special place in the community. Yancy Tucker is a great choice. I also like Verdie Grant Foster, Rosemary Hunter, Marcia Woolery, Ike Godsey, and so on. It’s hard to choose just one. We have a poll here on the forum where you can vote for your favorite local resident. Favorite Walton Neighbor

My favorite would have to be Ike Godsey. His General Store added so much to the show. If I lived during the 30's I could see myself running a General Store.
I also liked Maude. She was so comical.

There are a lot of great Walton neighbours (the Baldwins, Yancy, Verdie, Flossie, Ike (and, to a lesser extent, Corabeth), Maude, Ep (although he wasn't technically a neighbour), and other, but my mind keeps turning to a young man who played such a pivotal role to the Walton family: G.W. Haines.
G.W. was in only 11 episodes, but his presence on the screen cannot be denied, from his first episode, 'The Hunt', to his last episode, 'The First Casualty'. He was everything: loyal friend, partner for a game of catch, love interest twice, pseudo family member, helper, soldier, and, on at least one occasion, a model for seamstress Olivia.
He single-handedly brought World War II to the Waltons and dropped it right on their doorstep and our livingrooms.

I really liked Maude. I think of her as a live action version of the little old lady in the Tweety Bird cartoons.

Maude Gormley, she was a tenacious little woman. Also, who was the guy who hid from his wife, when they were playing pool at Ike's?

Mamie and Emily Baldwin. They are gold in every scene they appear in.

My absolute favorite is Flossie Brimmer. I always look forward to Flossie's appearance in every episode she is in. She is the ultimate neighbor who was trusted to take care of the children when Olivia had to go to the hospital during her difficult delivery.
She handled Jim Bob so delicately when he came to her about his birth. So many other appearances come to mind as well. She was a very complex person with lots of foibles, but also with much kindness and love.
