I've always thought that the girl Amy that died of scarlet fever that Grandpa mentioned to one of the kids was Zeb and Esther's third child.
What episode mentioned Zeb having a sister Melissa?

I agree about Amy. Grandma said once that she had given birth to 3 children, but we only know of John and Ben, who died in the war. I also think the 3rd child was Amy who died of scarlet fever. I don’t remember a Melissa either, except for Daisy Garner’s little girl.

In The Homecoming, Grandma says something like "All my boys were handsome". It sounded like she meant more than 2, because if it is just 2, she could have said, "Both my boys were handsome".

You may want to check out William Atkins entry for Esther and her children. (see your link at the bottom of page) William took good notes of the series.

In Spencer’s Mountain, Clay Spencer had at least 7 brothers. One was played by Victor French. The Homecoming was originally a stand-alone made for TV movie, not intended to be the first episode of the television series, so it’s not surprising that Grandma spoke of “all her boys” in the movie. I’m not sure why she had only 3 children in the tv series, but I suspect it was because it would have been too confusing to have all those uncles and aunts and too many cousins to count.

In my imagination, I have the fictional Jim Bob marry "Scout" Finch and have a son and a daughter and they move to Oregon where their daughter meets Ramona Quimby and become best friends and eventually Scout's and Jim Bob's son and Ramona fall in love and marry. (I kinda like combing my favorites and creating little stories when I get depressed. So excuse the silliness)

Zadok what branch of The Waltons did Cora Beth Godsey come from. I enjoyed reading what you posted on The history of the Waltons. Hi everyone, It's good to be back, it's been quite some time since I've been on site. Being water logged in the UK doesn't help. Zadock, I have enjoyed reading your 'History Of The Walton Family' you really are a serious fan. I wonder if you could answer a question for me please? I have just finished watching 'The Secret'. Was there an episode which covered the birth of twins to Olivia and John? Also, who was the actor who played the production assistant in the episode where john re writes the script for a film being made on WM. I'm just wondering if he was actually an American actor 'doing' an English accent? By the way, are you the archivist for the forum?

The Secret as far as know is the only episode that dealt with Jim Bob's twin.

Glad you enjoyed my Walton's History post. Thanks for your kind words, however I am only the messenger. The author of that piece, as you will see towards the beginning of my post, was John Viens publishing it in 2008. on VoyForums . I felt it well composed and comprehensive enough to be useful on our forum as a reference. We probably want to make editions allowing for events and items John did not consider at the time of his original post. I am not the archivist for our forum, just a regular fan. I agree with Carol about The Secret (S4E16), being the only episode i am aware, that talks of Jim-bob's twin brother. I also recall the episode you refer to, where a movie is being filmed on the mountain. It was in The Abdication (S4E11). John-boy's mentor A.J. Covington returned to town. He is also part of the production team. The fellow you are probably thinking is Stephen Collins, an American actor from Iowa. He plays the character Todd Clarke, a British production assistant. How do you feel about his accent? Would he pass for British?

By the way...I believe the reason the name "Walton" was used instead of Spencer was contractual. Since Earl sold the rights to Spencer's Mountain, he couldn't use that name (Pretty sure I read that somewhere.) However, I do believe Earl mentioned there is also a family connection to the name Walton. As Brenda said, though, pretty sure he didn't think The Homecoming was going to lead to a series

When Joe Douglas tells Jim-Bob his name in The Flight (S6E10) Jim-Bob tells him he had a brother called Joe and that he died when he was born.Collins' accent is passable, it's a pity they couldn't have had a British actor playing Clarke like Jean Marsh who was guest artist in The Hiding Place (S5E10) where she played Hilary von Kleist. Although she's British her character was German.

I enjoy dialects of all kinds. However, I notice the last 7 posts have strayed further & further off topic.. Just a reminder this thread is about the " History of the Walton Family". So as not to lose the momentum & enjoyment of this evolved sub-thread, how about we begin a new one on Other Topics/Other Topics - Subject: English Dialects and move the last 7 posts over to there? My apologies for messing up your thread, I've deleted all the posts I made earlier in this topic regarding accents. Having been a moderator for a forum some years ago, I know how easy it is for members to stray off topic. In the words the Beatle's song I should have known better. The reason why I strayed off topic was in regard to what you said in your post.To which I replied. From there things began to snowball.

Just takes paying attention. It's not that hard to follow.... And, it makes it feel like we're having a REAL conversation !!

I wasn't suggesting to delete content, only to move those posts to a new thread possibly titled English Dialects, where we can all enjoy and more easily find them again. No need to delete anything.... Assuming one would know who did the posting, it's perfectly easy to find them under the member's profile....

A new thread has been created, and several posts have been moved to British accents.
