Donald Moffat, who portrayed John’s unlikable boss, in “John’s Crossroads,” passed away yesterday at age 87 due to complications from a stroke. He was a good friend to actor Ralph Waite.

That's sad, but so glad to hear that he was a good friend to Ralph Waite! I never like watching that episode, to painful for me personally,😕🌸

I remember him from that fairly crappy TV version they did of "Logan's Run". To add some variety to it, they put in a semi-comedy android character alongside Logan and Jessica, played by Moffat. It was very far away from the guest-star bit he did as the Fuhrer of John's office in TW.

He was also in "The Chisolms" with Robert Preston and Rosemary Harris, which ran on Thursday nights for a while on CBS while "The Waltons" was on hiatus.

I didn't know he was a Brit from Devonshire. He came to the US in 1926. While here he lost all traces of his Brit accent.

Moffat was not the only Brit to have appeared in The Waltons Jean Marsh guest starred in The Hiding Place S 5 E 23, as Hilary von Kleist. Jean was born in London, and is best known for her role as Rose in the period drama Upstairs Downstairs which she co-created. Donald Moffat, was in the movie Earthquake along with Kip Niven who had two roles in The Waltons, the first being Lt. Clarke Oler in The Pin-Up, the second as the Rev Tom Marshall and finally Lloyd Nolan who was in The Return, Read more: The FullfimentAt Wikki Donald MoffatJean Marsh

Kip Niven was married for a time to Linda Lavin, who starred in the TV show "Alice."

Although he play's some serious down-home country music.

I think Jon wanted a more peaceful life. He lives in a smaller town, not a big city. He and his wife Marion seem to enjoy it there. He and his family moved to CA from England when he was a small boy. That's when he became involved in acting. I heard that he will be appearing with his Waltons castmates, sans David Harper, later this month at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Marshfield, MO. Is anyone going to see them.
