Thanks for posting, jrijr . It’s unfortunate that the event will not be happening. There is another Waltons’ event planned for the first weekend in November. It is the 25th annual Waltons Reunion sponsored by The Waltons International Fan Club. Details are in the graphic at the top of the forum.

Jon has a new cd out called “Going to Clarksdale”. I would love to see him in concert.

I ordered his cd. You can order his cd and photographs at his website. He will autograph them and write what you want. He accepts PayPal but I think credit cards too.

I am assuming that there is a back story about his decision not to appear that we do not know about. Not wishing to create controversy here, but there are two sides to every story.

I'm not surprised that the reunion isn't happening this year -- in fact, I've never understood why it always seems to coincide closely with Ray's event, which is usually "set" first ....

Ray’s event is not happening this year Jerijet. Carolyn’s reunions came first (started 25 years ago) are always good and have been planned before Ray’s events. They weren’t always known to the public right away.

Not wishing to create controversy here, but there are two sides to every story.[/quotfe] Yes, there is quite a backstory. I believe Jon made this announcement before he knew the reunion was canceled and given what all was going on, I think he made an honorable decision. I hope that everyone who had paid for that reunion received a refund, as was promised. I attended one of Carolyn's reunions and can attest to how lovely they are and thoughtfully planned. Carolyn also works hard to keep her prices as reasonable as possible, which I know the attendees appreciate. It's a tremendous amount of work, pulling together these reunions every year for 25 years and has been a real labor of love. And when someone came in and planned an event shortly before her event, even though it had been planned well in advance, she was so lovely about it. She's a true lady. I'm glad I had the privilege of meeting her.

I think that this is going to be the last fan club reunion, so I hope everyone who can do so attends.

It's sad, but I can't blame her. It's a lot of work and, I think, basically volunteer work because it wasn't run as a profit-making venture. It was truly done for the sheer love of this wonderful show and the legacy it left.

I loved attending Carolyn's Reunions. She always put in 1000% and more to make sure things went according to plan which was to provide us all with what, in my opinion was what the show was all about, and that was love, family and friends. Through her I made many lifelong friendships which I'm so grateful for, something that no other Walton group, I believe, has ever done, except, I must say, this Forum. As was said before, I too believe that Carolyn did it out of a labor of love, and she is to be commended for that. Anyone, who hasn't attended her Reunions, has certainly missed out on a great thing, and certainly anyone, who hasn't attended the Reunions, has no right to say anything negative about which they know nothing. Those who have actually attended know how much fun we all have had and how it brought many strangers together and made them lifelong friends, and it's all due to her. I must say Brenda has done the exact same thing with this Forum and I'm taking the liberty to thank her now too. So thank you, Brenda, for all that you've done for us with having this Forum.

Yes, truly a blessing. I went to my first reunion back in October 1997 for the Waltons’ 25th anniversary in Schuyler. What a wonderful time! And since then I’ve met so many nice people. Carolyn always puts on a good show. So sorry I can’t make it for the last one!🙁

Definite thanks to Brenda for being the forum administrator here. Through her forum I have made wonderful cherished friends here on the forum that I haven't had the pleasure to meet in person (yet). I have been able to met several in person through the years. Due to Brenda and this forum I found out about Carolyn Grinnell's Walton reunions and I have attended all of hers since 2012 and made more dear friends through that as well as quite a few friends that are not on this forum.
