But she died many years ago - isn't it a bit late for distributing her estate?

Ellen Corby died on April 14th, 1999. She had lived with her friend Stella Luchetta for 45 years prior. I do not know when Stella died or the date of the estate sale. Mary McDonough (Erin) posted about the estate sale on her Facebook page.
On 7/23/16 @ 4:28 p.m. Mary wrote:
Yes, it's true. This happened. I heard about it earlier this week. Ellen's dear friend Stella passed and her family is having this sale apparently. Many of the important items are not in this sale. The Emmys, Golden Globe etc. It has been heartbreaking (and a little creepy) to see photos, Ellen's personal items listed. It feels so strange to know people are roaming and rummaging through her house and things. I don't think she would have liked it at all. People often ask me why and how I can let go of my Waltons items, well, this is why. I appreciate the help for my kid and I want YOU all to have these things as I know they are understood and appreciated. RIP Grandma and Stella.

It is my understanding that Stella inherited most if not all of Ellen's things. Mary sells her own personal Waltons stuff on Ebay from time to time. She uses the money to pay for her daughter's college education and donates some of it to charity.

I had understood that Stella recently passed away and it was Stella's family that out the items up for sale.
