Geoffrey Lewis passed away yesterday. He appeared in one episode of the Waltons, The Runaway, playing Elwood Dobbs. If I am remember correctly, he gave Jim Bob a ride in the episode. He appeared in two episodes of Little House on the Prairie, both times playing the part as an evil brother. The first episode is one of my favorites, as the townfolk eventually runs the brothers out of town after eventually giving up on turning the other cheek. The second go around he played the brother of the Waltons' own Yancy Tucker, Robert Donner.
He was also the father of Juliette Lewis.
In a sad and ironic side note, I flew to California last week and as I normally do when flying I downloaded a few old tv shows onto my ipad. This trip featured Flo, the short-lived spin-off to Alice starring Polly Holliday. Geoffrey Lewis co-starred as the bartender. I recognized him from his many roles and when I got home spent some time researching him and watching some of his old stuff. Now, less than a week later, he has passed on.

A great character actor... I didn't know (until this morning) that Juliette was his daughter. Attachments:

You remembered correctly Uncle Coaster. He stopped at Ike's to get some gas and he complained to Ike because the gas was eighteen cents per gallon.
