I think you are correct about that, Daniela.

You can tell that she has read them? There is an envelope beside the message that is closed until someone reads the message. Unless, I'm wrong in thinking that...maybe Brenda will know for sure. Well then if she has read your message, she must be ok. That is good news!

Sadly, this doesn't work. Daniela and I conducted a scientific experiment this morning. She sent me a message...I asked her to notify me when she sees that the message is opened. She notified me about 20 minutes after she sent it that it showed the message was opened. Problem is: I have not opened the message nor have I even clicked on messages. All I did was to remain logged in to the forum. So I have a feeling that if you are logged in, the message will show as "opened". It's too bad because I was hoping jeri was checking messages and that meant she was OK. Guess we still don't know.

Or your scientific study is flawed. Don't you have to have a control group? What if someone has their sign in hidden, so it doesn't look like they are online, what happens then? Etc..

I just went in and selected all my messages and then under action (I think that is what it said) I selected "mark all as new" and now they look like they have not been opened.
If someone has sent me a message, send me another one and tell me if it looks to you that I have not opened my messages.

What I said is that just because a message seems to be opened ...doesn't mean for sure that the person physically opened it. It could just mean that they were online at the time( hidden or not) and the message is seen as "opened" because they were online at the time...just like in my case this morning. So in the end we aren't certain whether Jeri saw it... Or not.

I'd not assume the worst here, not without more evidence I think Jeri could well be fine. I had someone I spoke to online 'disappear' before (right after they told me they'd been feeling suicidal!) and they were gone for months. I tracked them down on Facebook and saw that some people on there alluded to something having put them in the hospital and I assumed the worst... But even in that case, the person was fine they were in hospital for some minor reasons. Anyway, the point is, that there are many reasons a person may suddenly 'disappear' from the internet, and there's no need to think it is something negative that's causing it

So you sent me a message 51 mins ago and then another to say that it already showed opened, but I did not open in until 2:30pm, so messages are marked as read as soon as the sender sends them.

Why would anyone get upset because someone asks them to post a pic of themselves. No way...

From the posts that Jeri has made and the responses to her posts and then her "rebuttals," I do not consider her a thin-skinned person or one who would stay away from something that she is so passionate about because someone wanted to see a picture. I am praying that she is okay and thinking that she may have other reasons for not posting currently.

Im sorry to hear no contact with Jeri Jet. She is a nice lady and I want to keep her in the present tense of course while she is missing here. I miss talking sports and the Waltons etc with her here and in one of her last posts when I hadn't checked in for a while which I don't do as much as I used to but she said she was happy to see me when I did check in. So please check in Jeri Jet and I hope family members or friends would notify on Facebook or here if they can because enough of us were there. I never liked that dial up because you can't use your phone but most of the us have cell phones now anyway Jeri Jet lives in the older world though.God bless her and take care.Ill keep checking back her now and then about her and you.
