Well, that just about ruins Hallmark except for an occasional decent movie, usually with Melissa Gilbert.

I should have guessed it was only a matter of time before "Little House" got the ax after "The Waltons" was removed. I hope Hallmark does not become another TV Land, but it looks like that's the direction Hallmark is headed in.

As I understand it, a channel will purchase a license to a particular program. This license allows them to run that show as many times as they want until the license runs out (which, I'm pretty sure, is what happened with The Waltons).
Now, I've read that the license for LHOP hasn't expired. At the same time, Hallmark has been running it four times a day for ages, now. I think their policy of running any show so many times in a day is overkill. I mean, I love MASH. Always have. And I know a couple of people who worked on the series, so I have a special love in my heart for it. Still--when I can recite dialogue word for word right along with the characters, it's time to say 'enough.' They ran the finale last week, and I have sworn off MASH for the foreseeable future.
I imagine part of this decision is economical. It looks as if they will be running fewer shows (translate that to less money spent on purchasing licenses) more times during the day. Eventually, people will get tired of these shows and Hallmark will have to pony up money to buy licenses for different shows.
They may bring back LHOP--or The Waltons--some time in the future. Until then, thank the Lord for DVDs. (And with them, you don't have to watch all the commercials for motorized scooters, walk-in bathtubs and denture adhesives. <G>)

I thnk the good old comedies that lasted only 30 minutes---Brady Bunch, My Three Sons, Family Affair,Andy Griffith,Patty Duke,Donna Reed, Father Knows Best, Doris Day, Leave it to Beaver and others were only available either on TVLAND or were not on for a long enough time--five years or more---to warrant being available for long term sydication.

The Hallmark Channel is doing a Little House Movie Marathon in April... including the 2005 Little House Movie mini-series starring Cameron Bancroft as Pa (Charles) and Erin Cottrell from the Love Comes Softly Movies, as Ma (Caroline). I have the information about this on my Family TV Schedule, here: www.geocities.com/itsawonderfulchristmas/FamilyTVSchedule.htmlJust scroll down to April 18th.

Will they also be showing the 1978 Little House special which had Katy Kurtzman playing the part of Young Caroline---And Matthew Laborteaux played the part of Charles--the following year he was of course adopted on the show and became known as Albert Ingalls. 1979 was the last year I watched Little House regularly---after that I frequently did not get to see it and in those days VCR's were available but they cost about $300. So I did not find out until the weekend prior to the Super Bowl in 2007 that there was an episode in which Albert died----I finally watched it at that time.

I looked up Katy Kurtzman on IMDB.com - she played in two episodes of Little House -
- I Remember, I Remember (1978) TV episode .... Young Caroline - The Music Box (1977) TV episode .... Anna Gillberg
Before Hallmark airs the 2005 Little House Mini-Series on April 18th, they are playing Two Original Little House Shows - Look Back to Yesterday and The Last Farewell.
Unfortunately, not the one you are looking for.

I've stated this previously here on the Forum and now it's becoming all too true. If you want to continue to enjoy the great family series that we all love you had better buy the DVDs. As viewer tastes and habits become more coarsened, you will see less and less of shows like The Waltons and LHOTP on television. Moreover, the DVDs will not continue to be manufactured if demand for these shows declines. All of this means that within the next few years it may be difficult to find all of the seasons of your favorite classic series being sold, unless it's online somewhere. Even then, the quantity could very well be limited for any given season of a series. And when any item is limited in supply, the price will probably go up.

They ran Little House way too much. It seemed like it was on all morning long - overkill....

As most of you know... Little House is back on Hallmark at 3 PM and 4 PM. I'm so glad they found a spot to bring them back in.
Still wishing some station would bring our Waltons back on TV.

My daughter runs a forum for Laura Ingalls Wilder. They discuss Laura's real life and the Little House books, but there is a section for the tv show. frontiergirl.proboards.com/index.cgiHope this helps. Brenda
