I would like to go,but I haven't ask my brother in-law yet who like to watch The Waltons. If I could drive a car I would just go by myself,I wish I could drive, but I know I couldn't,I can't tell you anymore than that. Many of us have known you for a long time.... we understand and care about you

My boyfriend and I are attending and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!! We are also staying at the Kirkley. I am sooo excited about this trip! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you as much as I am the Walton cast members. Also looking forward to the beautiful drive, spending time in Schuyler and then continuing our journey onto TN. Hoping to have enough time to swing by Colonial Williamsburg, VA on the way back for a day or two (love, Love LOVE that place!!!!!).
We were thinking of renting an RV, but my honey didn't realize we'd have to tow a car, too. (Do you want to unhook the RV every time you want to run out for a quart of milk?? Or look for places to park that behemoth when we go sight seeing?) Once he realized that, it lost a bit of the allure. I already have my reservations at the Kirkley. I have to figure out where else I'll be and make B&B reservations.
Hey Sharon (SDW)...maybe if I'm close to your neighborhood, we can meet for lunch one day!! Charlottesville and the surrounding area is a great place to visit if you have the time. So many things to see and do. Also, Appomattox is near Lynchburg and a nice historical spot also.

Yep... school colors are navy and green but white and khaki are allowed as well. Of course, this late in the game, stores are sold out of many colors and sizes we need. Try Kohl's or Target or Walmart online. They all have uniforms and usually free shipping.

Hey Sharon (SDW)...maybe if I'm close to your neighborhood, we can meet for lunch one day!! Stanton, Virginia has a living history museum about the people who settled the area. A very nice place to visit. Also, Luray has some great caverns which are awesome. Above Luray is Skyline drive. You can get on at Waynesboro, travel north towards Front Royal (if you go south it is the Blue Ridge Parkway). Stop at Big Meadows (the boy from the CCC). Great visitors center, camping, lodging, dining, etc. Then travel another ten miles and stay the night at Skyland Resort (our favorite). Also has lodging, restaurants, gift shop, etc. Then keep traveling north to Matthews Arms (camping, food, gift shop). Then travel to Dickie Ridge. Also has visitor center and gift shop (no restaurant). On your drive along Skyline Drive there is a lot of great hiking, pull offs for views, and visitor centers that make the trip really popular especially in the fall. Skyline Drive has a fee and only one gas station at Big Meadows. Blue Ridge Parkway is free (goes from Waynesboro down to Tennessee). Say hi to Boone and Martha Corinne if you go!

Hey Sharon (SDW)...maybe if I'm close to your neighborhood, we can meet for lunch one day!! I just though of another spot to visit. With all the suggestions I have been sending you, you better plan a month long trip! LOL! Harpers Ferry is a great place to visit. It is a Civil War town that has many historical building, exhibits, and other things to see. It is a bit north of Front Royal. Also, farther north is Gettysburg which is another interesting place to visit. We stayed at a campground and rented one of the camping cabins. It was fun and nicer then a hotel room.

We went to Gettysburg last October. Wonderful trip. We rode horses on the battlefield, took ghost tours and toured the battlefield on our own. Stayed at a wonderful B&B that comes replete with its own ghosts. I do want to get back to Gettysburg, but I don't think it will be this trip.

Yes, we will be there too. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Looking forward to seeing a real Halloween too. We don't traditionally celebrate it over here.

But want to visit Vicksburg, Ms also.

There is so much to see and do there and you are right about two days not being enough time. The Spangler Farm is now open for tours and was a great visit. If you make a return visit, go to Harper's Ferry as it is a Civil War town also. It is not far from Gettysburg. My daughter is a big history buff (and has a degree in history). She loves Gettysburg. She wanted to go to college there but it was so expensive.

When I was there I was thinking how I would love to rent an old house and stay there for the summer and take a history class. These are the things I would do if I were an heiress.

Yes, we will be there too. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Looking forward to seeing a real Halloween too. We don't traditionally celebrate it over here. Some people decorate and some don't. So put out a few things and some have everything under the sun. Have you ever seen those inflatable decorations? They can be huge! Trick or treating is fun and the children really enjoy it. When I was little, there was a women who made candied apples. We would run first to her house to get one. We would wait in line and I remember looking in her porch windows and seeing trays and trays of the glossy, red apples! We also had mischief night the night before Halloween. We would take soap and run around the neighborhood and soap car windows. Sounds terrible but it was so much fun.

It is on my bucket list to take a class there some day!
