Firstly, I want to thank our fearless leader Carolyn for hosting another Reunion this year. So excited! I have some guest requests that I'd like to put out there: Dennis Kort (Lyle "The Genius") - This is not a new request for me I just love him and would probably be as excited to meet him as I would Richard Thomas. Todd Susman (Ted Lapinsky, Jason's Jewish friend from the Army.) Michael Rupert (Gino "The Boy From The CCC") Dennis Redfield (Mike Paxton) They have all been working regularly except for Dennis Kort. It's almost like he fell off the planet! Can't wait for Halloween (and I NEVER say that!)

@heather what about Michael Learned
Yes, I would love for Michael Learned to be there this year. She wasn't able to make the one in California in 2012. I know I will be happy with the ones that Carolyn gets to come but I sure would love to have the pleasure of meeting Michael.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see Lynn Hamilton (Verdie) and Hal Williams (Harley) again. Both of them are so down to earth and wonderful, friendly people.

What happens at the reunions? Have never been to one. How long is the reunion? What do people do? Thanks.
Kathy Lee - I attended the one in California (2012) and last year's in Virginia (2013). Last year the reunion started on Friday October 18th with a meet and greet from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (EST). There was cookies and drinks. This is when you meet Carolyn Grinnell, fellow Walton fans and the special Walton guests of honor. You can talk to them and have your picture taken with them but they ask for you to wait until the next morning's autograph session for anything to be autographed.
The autograph session was the next morning (Sat. 10/19) for an hour (it was 9 to 10 a.m. or 10 to 11 am), can't remember exactly. You can bring things to be autographed or you may purchase a photo or other items from them and have them autograph it. Then we were free until the dinner that night at 6:00 p.m. Quite a bit of us went to Schuyler between the autograph session and the dinner. Usually the special Walton guests of honor go to Schuyler after the autograph session too. So keep your eyes open for them. I toured Schuyler with forum members Brenda, Cinlou, weezer29 and MrsOliviaWalton. We also had another wonderful lady with us named Cynthia but she is not on the forum. We also met forum member jimbobwaltonlover94 at Isis Ringrose's house.
We stopped at the little post office in Rockfish and in Shuyler, they opened the Baptist Church that Earl attended,so we could all go inside. We toured the gift shop that was the shed that Earl Hamner wrote in growing up, his childhood home, Ike Godsey's store and went to the Walton's Museum and gift shop. The hospital that Earl Hamner was born in, is now the private residence of Isis Ringrose. She usually has lunch for us fans at her house. Last year she asked for $5.00 - she had all kinds of food! It was mind boggling what all she had offered for you to eat. She let us tour the house and if you know anything about Ronnie Claire Edwards (Corabeth) sense of style in real life - well, it's like Isis Ringrose is her long lost sister in terms of decorating. Her house is very interesting to tour. You do not have to eat lunch at her house in order to tour it.
Last year before the reunion dinner, as we were all waiting out in the hallway, they handed each one of us a ticket. During the dinner, Carolyn had some of those tickets drawn to give away special Walton things. I was lucky enough to have my ticket drawn and I got the actual Ike Godsey apron that Joe Conley (Ike) himself wore at the reunion back in 2010. There was items on four tables for us all to bid on - scripts from The Waltons, pictures, playbills, CDs, Walton's lunchbox, etc. Carolyn uses the money from this for the reunions. They had the auction after the dinner was over for whoever wanted to stick around for it. It was a lot of fun - Angel Rhoades (Virginia) and Michael McGreevey (Hobie Shanks) helped auction the items off. Naturally, there is a program during the dinner. All of the special guests came up to the podium and talked. There was footage of them shown from their appearance(s) on The Waltons. They had a receiving line with the special guests just as you first came into the banquet room, so you could meet and greet with them again before the dinner started.
There will be a place card at one of the tables with your name for your reserved spot. You may be one of the lucky ones that gets to sit with one of the Walton guests of honor. Rather you do or not, you will have plenty of time to get to know your other tablemates (which is always interesting and fun). Last year ours was two married couples and a mother and daughter. It was OBVIOUS they were mother and daughter - it was unreal how much they looked alike and talked alike. Mr. Forever and I immediately said to them, "You two are mother and daughter." They told us that people tell them all the time how much they look alike but that they couldn't see it! LOL! I will never understand that - they couldn't deny each other in a million years. The dinner and dessert was wonderful too. After the auction was over, it was somewhere between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The next morning Brenda w/hubby, Cinlou w/hubby, weezer29, MrsOliviaWalton, Mr. Forever and I met up at Bob Evans Restaurant and ate breakfast together before saying our goodbyes to each other.
You are free to meet up with any of the Walton fans/forum members to eat meals together, run around together, etc. We all also hung out together in the hotel lobby and restaurant.
Carolyn Grinnell will include an itinerary with her plans for this year's reunion when she has all of it planned out. Hope this has at least given you some idea of what goes on.

Thanks! That was a great help. I would love to go this year. It sounds like so much fun. We just got back from Virginia and spent some time in Schuyler. Would love to see inside the church and other usually closed places. Meeting other Walton fans would be fun also. Will try to go this year. If anyone is looking for a nice place to stay, we stayed at The Mark Addy Inn which is about ten minutes from Schuyler. We got a good deal on Travelzoo.com. There is another deal for the inn that came in an email yesterday. The rooms are half price. We loved the place and would stay there again. Might be a good place to stay during the reunion.

Has the actress who was the first Aimee Godsey ever attended a reunion?
Rachel Longaker played Aimee Louise Godsey in 16 of the Walton's episodes plus the TV movie "A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion" (1993). She attended Ray Castro/Kami Cotler's 40th Walton's Reunion in Los Angeles California on 9/29/2012 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. I talked to her several times at the VIP dinner party after the reunion show. She autographed a couple of pictures for me and posed for some pictures. She was very sweet (just like her character Aimee).
Kami Cotler (Elizabeth) autographed several photos for me both nights (Carolyn Grinnell's reunion dinner on 9/28 and at this VIP dinner party 9/29). After Rachel autographed the ones of herself that I brought, I had one photo left of Rachel and Kami together from an episode of the Waltons. I heard Rachel and Kami mention a few times what great friends they were on the Waltons and how wonderful it was to be together again. So I took that one photo I had left and asked Rachel if she would like to have it. She seemed overjoyed to acquire it and thanked me a couple of times for giving it to her.
I do not know if this is the only reunion she has ever attended or not.

I know what you mean, dowsee. I feel like I was with her too.
Jenny: Were you scared in Vietnam?
John Boy: Yes. Well, I-I don't know. Sometimes it would stop raining long enough for the stars to come out...and then it was nice. It was like just before the sun goes to bed down on the bayou. There was always a million sparkles on the water...like that mountain lake. It was so clear, Jenny, it looked like there were two skies one on top of the other. And then in the desert, when the sun comes up, I couldn't tell where heaven stopped and the earth began. It's so beautiful.
Jenny: I wish I could've been there with you.
John Boy: You were.
Oh, there I go getting Jenny and John Boy mixed up with Jenny and Forrest Gump again. You know Brenda - I feel like I was with you too or maybe you have an identical sister that you don't know about. LOL!

It was an intergalactic alien replacement of Brenda. 100% the same in everyday way, except two things: 1) The aliens misspelled the name "Brenda" on her drivers license (thank goodness no one noticed) 2) Alien Brenda cracked her knuckles whenever anyone said the words "Good morning". You probably missed that too During that weekend the real Brenda was sitting on a street corner, in front of the old north church in Boston, playing guitar, singing "KC and the sunshine band's" greatest hits. She earned $13.50
