Well WaltonFan, I'm not Earl, but maybe I can help with your question. I think Olivia's calling Esther "Granma" is probably just a southen custom. All my sons-in-law call me by the name my grandchildren use for me, which is "Lovie". I think sometimes in=laws feel awkward usuing their new parent's-in-law's first name and when grandchildren come along the new parents pick up the name the children do to ease some of that. Just my thought, for what it's worth

Dear Earl, Thank you so much for contributing the Waltons and a recapping of your family history to our lives as the Waltons. They just make me feel so good and relax in a hectic world. Best wishes to you and continued good health to you and this Waltons Forum definitely adds to my Waltons experience. Best wishes. wmfan

Hello Earl. I want to thank you for sharing your childhood family and creating The Waltons. I live in New Zealand and first viewed The Waltons as a child. I never forgot the programmes. Nowdays I am in my 50's and the stories bring a sense of peace and contentment to me as they take me back to a simpler time when family and community was most important. God bless and keep you Karen
