In memory of James Hamner Age: 68 years old
James E. Hamner, youngest brother of Earl Hamner Jr. died of emphysema at age 67. Mr. Hamner was the basis for the character Jim-Bob in the hit TV series "The Waltons." "The Waltons" became one of the most popular TV series in America in the 1970s. It told the story of a poor mountain family facing the challenges of the Great Depression. James Hamner's character Jim-Bob was portrayed by actor David W. Harper. Good night Jim-Bob.
James Hamner, the youngest brother died on April 1, 2004. He continued to live in the Hamner homeplace in Schuyler, Virginia until shortly before his death. Jim was a retired Senior Systems Analyst for The University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Jim frequently visited with fans in Schuyler who cheerfully called him "Jim Bob."

Interesting, James Hamner was born in 1936. That means Jim Bob should not have been born until the Fourth Season of The Waltons.

I am really sorry to read about this. I've been away from the board and didn't know James Hamner had passed away.
