Wikipedia says he died of respiratory failure, which is different from a respiratory illness. Anything can cause respiratory failure. It basically means you stopped breathing.

Over last weekend, I watched a tv tribute to Woody Guthrie, which I'd seen several times before -- mainly to remind myself of any Will Geer coverage related to Woody.... hadn't remembered that Will actually sang THREE times in that documentary !!

Wikipedia says he died of respiratory failure, which is different from a respiratory illness. Anything can cause respiratory failure. It basically means you stopped breathing. This is from Wikipedia itself. Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Wikipedia can be edited by anyone at any time. This means that any information it contains at any particular time could be vandalism, a work in progress, or just plain wrong. Biographies of living persons, subjects that happen to be in the news, and politically or culturally contentious topics are especially vulnerable to these issues. Edits on Wikipedia that are in error may eventually be fixed. However, because Wikipedia is a volunteer run project, it cannot monitor every contribution all of the time. There are many errors that remain unnoticed for days, weeks, months, or even years. Therefore, Wikipedia should not be considered a definitive source in and of itself. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_is_not_a_reliable_source

As a young child I was captivated by Will Geer and The Grandpa character he portrayed. He was a wise old sage..a gentle, kind soul with the loyalty and devotion of man's best friend, the spirit of someone half his age, a taste for the recipe, and a slight penchant for shenanigans..
40 years later he still captivates me.

Will Geer was a folksinger, as well as an actor. Why didn't he do some music with Jon Walmsley, (Jason) on the show? The most I ever heard from him was a little bit of "Annabelle Lee," in the episode, "The Statue."
