Just some thoughts for the holiday season,
As many of you know Eric Scott has been collecting money for the Leukemia and Cancer Foundations and forwarding it for me. I spoke with Eric yesterday and say's he would be happy to continue to forward money to the society that is sent to him. I know that for many hard times don’t make this possible. But for those who can, the children dealing with cancer would greatly appreciate it. Finding a cure for cancer is an expensive process.
Furthermore, for most children their families are paying hospital bills and can not afford holiday cheer for their sick child. There are places in your area that you could donate a children’s toy. Every year I speak with Toy’s R Us and they give me a great deal on a dozen stuffed animals that I bring into the hospital. Various stores have closeout items that they have sitting in the back room. I go in and ask and they are willing to donate these to the hospital. Stores are just waiting for someone to come in and ask for close out toys and such.
A little over a month ago Shiloh, a reading buddy of mine, had lost her battle with Leukemia. I ask that my friends here on the forum keep her family in their prayers. This will be a hard time for Shiloh’s family.
Most children’s hospitals have reading or big buddy programs and are in dire need of volunteers. Myself, I have been working with cancer stricken children over the last three years since I was first diagnosed with Leukemia. Trust me, you come out with much more than you put into it. I’ll be seeing my other reading buddy today at the hospital and plan to eat 'turkey' with him. Jason is nine years old and has just finished his first phase of chemotherapy. I was able to meet Jason for the first time yesterday and he is such a great kid! If you would like to hear more about the volunteer program you can email me at

In closing, I would like to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers for my swift recovery over the course of my battle. Things are looking really good and I am feeling great; and looking forward to the holidays.
Perhaps you know someone who is alone today ... I'm sure they would love to hear from you!
You are all in my prayers. God Bless!
Dianne
