Pretty much everyday I check the "Today's Birthdays." The vast majority of the "members" show that they registered & last logged on the very same day. I just wonder why they register & then never come back to the forum? You would think that they would at least give it a week or more to see if they like it. To each his own I guess!

One of these days I plan to go through the member list and delete everyone who joined and never returned.

I've always wondered about that too. We have almost 2500 members, yet most have never posted. I think we are a nice bunch of people, so I wish they would post or at least tell us why they left.

I just did a mass deletion of dormant accounts. I didn't delete anyone who had posted even one message, and I didn't delete anyone who has registered or logged in within the last 6 months. It's a start at least.

Boy! You sure DID some housekeeping! It's not something that you want to do, but like anything else, sometimes you have to do some "weeding".
I'm not sure that there should be a requirement to post. You can tell when a member last logged in. If they're still interested in this website, great! Some people are just really shy about posting yet still want to listen to opinons and discussions.
I usually click on "today's birthdays", so I did that today and there is 1 member with a birthday. I noticed that she hadn't been logged in since December of 2011-- however she's been member since 2008. It made me wonder why, after 3 years, did she not come back? (or maybe she DID come back, but didn't log in?)
Things that make you go "hmmmmmm."

There isn't a requirement to post, but if they registered, never posted, and haven't logged in the last 6 months, they aren't showing much interest in the forum. And if they do return, all they have to do is register again.

(or maybe she DID come back, but didn't log in?) Things that make you go "hmmmmmm." Nicolle - I joined the forum in August 2008 & posted for a little while. At the time my husband & I were foster parents & had 7 kids still at home with one of them being only 4 months old at the time. Life got busy & hectic so I ended up leaving the forum. I did not come back until the very end of May 2012. I had logged on to my computer that morning & on the news page that always comes up, there was a snippet about a 40th Waltons reunion. I clicked on it & it was about Ray Castro/Kami Cotler's event in Los Angeles. That the tickets had gone on sale the day before. So I grabbed my husband & we discussed going to it & if we did whether to buy a regular ticket or a VIP ticket. We decided it was a once in a lifetime trip so we went with the VIP tickets. After purchasing them, I decided to look up this forum again & saw that Carolyn Grinnell was also going to have a 40th Waltons reunion the night before Kami's in Burbank. So we bought tickets for that one also. So after being off the forum for nearly 3 1/2 years, I have been back on regularly for a little over a year now. I'm sure there are a lot of forum members that wished I would not get so long winded on here though. I am very glad that I decided to check out the forum again because I not only ended up being able to take that once in a lifetime trip to the California reunions but I have been able to make some really wonderful friends here. I don't expect everyone to "post" something but I highly enjoy the forum members who do participate. Not much fun if there isn't enough of us to keep the "chatter" going!

I'm glad there isn't a requirement to post....Even though I read through lots of subjects/posts I don't always know what to say on a subject.....(my husband might disagree with that statement ) I do try to log in at least 2 or 3 times in a week as it's not always possible for me to log in everyday...but I do like to visit when I can - there's always loads of interesting things on this forum

Before the forum had a make over, I chose the option that let me post without being logged on and it kept my online activity quite.
It looked like I had not logged on for 2.5 years, yet I posted daily if not several times weakly.
If we were on the old forum, I would have just been deleted.
The variety and amount of people that post seem to have dropped off, and as I told Brenda (and transferred to her my map duties), even I am taking a break.
I guess if I don't post for awhile I will get deleted too. Oh well. No, I am not planning on selling my mule.

I only deleted people who joined, never posted, and have not returned in the past 6 months. Most of the people I deleted never returned after the day they joined.

ForeverWaltons-- that's why I was wondering. The member (whose birthday it is today) Had been a part of the forum for over 3 years and with the last posting listed as 2011, it made me want to send out a "cyber search party" for them. Sometimes life just takes over and you can't do everything you had time for before. I'm glad you decided to check back in again!

Sometimes I'll go dormant for a time and then come back. My absence just depends on how busy my life is and how much I have to say.
