I just went into "Create Thread" only to find out what those pictures are to the left of each thread -- some look like a partly open yellow file folder, others like orange folders with hens or cats sometimes with a "cone" of red or blue, or something..... WHAT ARE THESE and where do you select them ?? Thanks. They just mean that a thread might be an announcement or a sticky, and if they are red, it means they are hot (popular, with lots of replies). Well, got out a magnifying glass and leaned up close -- what I thought was a cat's head or the profile of a hen is, in fact, a flame!! And the blue "cone" is an exclamation point, and the red thing is a push pin... YAY!!! now it all makes sense.

Is there a way to have "View recent threads" and "View recent posts" at the top and bottom of each screen? Also the same with "Home"? I sometimes just have time to quickly glance at the new posts and, after viewing one post, I have to scroll back up to the top of the screen and hit "Home" and then scroll down to hit "View recent posts". Or am I missing something?

I miss the "view the last 50 posts," button. Now I click on the "RECENT" button on the top. But I noticed the other day that I had missed a few replies to a couple of posts even though I check in several times a day. Don't know if there is another way or not?

Don't know if there is another way or not?"I'm trying to understand.... don't see how you could have missed anything.... Once you are logged in, you are at the Home page.... now, click on Recent, and you will be able to tell which threads have had recent posts that you have not read.... So, presumably you click on one of those and up will come the thread and you'll read what you have not yet read previously.... (of course, you will want to select the most recent page of that thread, and scroll down to the last couple of postings.) Then, you will have to scroll up to the top of that thread in order to click on Recent again, and then select the most recent page of another thread which indicates that it has posts you have not yet seen.... (and the thread you have just read will now indicate that you have seen it.) "Recent" includes ALL boards.... and the good thing now is that it has more than one page.... in the past, the New Threads or Active Threads only had one page, and things "dropped off" once the one page was filled.... You should not have to go back to the Home page to continue viewing Recent threads, but you WILL have to scroll up to click Recent again.... The old "50 Last Posts" was functionally less user-friendly because it was solely chronological and didn't give you the trail of posts for a given thread.... right? Is this helpful?

Or am I missing something? There's not an easy way to do it, but I could probably find a code that would let me put it at the bottom of the page as well. There are people who write codes for proboards forums, and I usually just have to do a search to find one that I'm looking for. I'll try to do it later when I have more time. You don't have to click on Home to find the recent posts, though. Just scroll to the top and click on the Recent tab. Brenda

Brenda, thank you so much. Any attempt you make to see what might can be done is very much appreciated.

Further to the above....new question:
Brenda, Michellet has asked about a "View Recent Posts" -- is there such a thing? I know "Recent" brings up all the recent threads and, of course, there are all the posts under each thread, but is there an actual "View Recent Posts" somewhere ?? And what would be the advantage of such a tab?? To me, it would just add confusion.....

I have never used it, but I guess some people do. It doesn't show recently updated threads, it shows the most recent posts.

I added one more tab in the navigation bar at the top: "Recent Posts"
Now people have a choice of Recent Threads or Recent Posts.

I just discovered the "New--Participated" box on the Home page!! So, for those who have been missing the old listing of your recent posts that came up automatically when you first logged in, there's a similar way to get to them fast.... I'm loving the new setup more and more.... Thanks, Brenda, for all your hard work -- I know it's been an even steeper learning curve for you than it has been for us !!

I forgot me again. It's been fine most of the week. I had to reset my password again tonight. I'm still not sure what you mean by "reset your password." When you come to the forum, are you getting a log in screen that looks like this? Or are you getting something different that is telling you to reset your password?
