I also need mine redone as well. I'm the keeper of the piano in the family room. Until yesterday, you hadn't posted since August 14, 2015 -- do you think you deserve a keeper ??!! There are members who visit the forum regularly but rarely post anything. Some people just like to read others’ posts.

Sone people just like to read others’ posts. Brenda, I understand that, of course -- but, I still don't think it's entirely "fair" .... if someone is not going to actively participate, other than read others' posts occasionally, why should they be allowed to have a keeper, which to me should reflect real participation.... Otherwise, why have keepers at all if there is no meaningful significance.

If you've just joined the forum to be a lurker then you should not be accorded that privilege. I'm a member of a forum where before you can post links to other sites of interest you have to have made enough contributions to it. I figure, before you can become a keeper you should at least have made 50 posts to it.

From the forum rules: The Forum Administrator reserves the right to remove the keeper banner of any Forum member who is absent from the forum for a period of 6 months. Likewise, the Forum Administrator reserves the right to remove any signature images which are not in adherence to these rules.

I think this is something several of us agreed on when we first started the keeper trend. I have never enforced it, but I still reserve that right. There have been a couple of times when someone asked to be a keeper of something that an inactive member had already claimed, and I allowed them to do that. Maybe I’m missing something here, but I don’t see how someone else’s inactivity is unfair to me. Maybe the person has some kind of life event that prevents them from participating for an extended time - a catastrophic illness, an accident, a house fire, a loss of internet access. I wouldn’t want to delete that person, then have the person return some day when things improve in their life just to find out they’ve been removed. When I have time, I will go through the member list and remove people who have never participated, but I’m not likely to remove people who participated in the past, then disappeared.

I figure, before you can become a keeper you should at least have made 50 posts to it. When I brought the concept of the keepers over from the Anne of Green Gables forum, I did it to share a neat idea amongst Walton freaks. I didn't do it because it would reflect real participation, or any type of earning. If my memory serves me right, the two week wait came about because somebody joined the forum, got a popular keeper and then split. The forum has slowed significantly since then, but its still nice to have somebody not run off with a keeper if someone is going to join and stay awhile. As far as being a lurker, there are many of us who do not post like we used to for various reasons. Does that mean someone like Daniela should not be the Keeper of the Tire Swing? I think not. Actually, those members who were the backbone of the forum should maybe have their keeper retired to them. The keeper concept is to be a fun and pleasant experience. Its starting to turn into the thread about the Witch on Walton's mountain. Remember that? Happy Halloween.

I am not really back. I am still in law school and I had a few moments so I thought I would spend them here. The Anne of Green Gables forum is shutdown and so is the Dr. Quinn forum. LHOTP has been gone for a long, long time, so this is the last forum standing for those types of programs.

LHOTP has been gone for a long, long time, so this is the last forum standing for those types of programs. People are using Facebook groups instead of forums and message boards. That's probably why those other forums have shut down and this one is not nearly as active as it once was. When will you be finished with law school?

Two more years after this one. I am in a part-time program. Part-time still takes all my time. Its been 20 years since undergrad and I struggled my first year in law school.
Actually FaceBook isn't that great for topic based sharing as far as I am concerned. The moderators have shut down most conversations and only post pictures or such. Its nothing like a forum. Anne of Green Gables is on FB, but its mostly to sell merchandise. Not a friendly place for me.

A very good point, especially when one thinks about the wild fires in California. Going on what you said about your reluctance to delete a member, what criteria would you use to delete a member. Would you delete these three? angellynn25 angellynn25 Newspaper Vendor 1 Oct 18, 2008 at 1:40am Oct 18, 2008 at 1:51am angelyn angelyn Newspaper Vendor 2 Jun 28, 2008 at 10:32pm Mar 1, 2009 at 1:10am angemathis angemathis Newspaper Vendor 1 May 26, 2011 at 7:14pm May 26, 2011 at 7:55pm

I agree. I prefer this format, but I participate in both.

It’s not a priority for me, especially since I don’t think there is a limit on the number of members a forum can have.

To Forum members who have recently become “keepers” and are not yet on the list: Please reply to this post, and I will add you. Daniela was very faithful to keep the list updated, but she’s rarely on the forum anymore. I do believe that I have not made it onto the list, thank you.🌸

I have just updated the keeper list. This was a much more difficult task than it should have been. I don’t know if it was my computer or some kind of glitch in this forum or maybe both, but I had all kinds of problems when I would save changes. It kept reverting back to a previous version of the post, or sometimes it wouldn’t save at all. Thank goodness I printed out a list before I started making changes. My biggest fear is that I accidentally deleted someone who should not have been deleted.
I have removed several forum members from the list. This was my criteria. Anyone who has not logged onto the forum in the past year and has not posted at least 100 posts to the forum was removed. In other words, if a person has been on the forum in the past year, they are still on the list even if they have fewer than 100 posts. If a person has been away from the forum for more than a year but has posted at least 100 times, they are still on the list. I believe that anyone who has posted that many times has made a significant contribution to the forum and is entitled to his or her keeper image.
If you notice that I have made a mistake or someone should be on the list who is not there, please let me know, and I will try to fix it.

My next project will be to try to locate and restore all the keeper images that have been taken hostage and altered by Photobucket and Tinypic. I’ll get around to it eventually.
These items are now available if someone wants to claim one of them:
The mill Baldwin sisters’ car Rover the peacock John and Olivia’s Bedroom Lamp Jim Bob’s car Grandma’s Broom Olivia’s Writing Desk Ike Godsey’s Motorcycle and Sidecar The Church The Waltons Theme Song Ike and CoraBeth Myrtle the goat Miss Mamie and Miss Emily Doe Hill The Treehouse Grandma’s Ironing Board Goodnight Wishes Ike Godsey’s Bow Tie John Boy’s Glasses
