Hello All,
Thank you for your kind words. I have a special request to ask of everyone.
Over the last few months I have been a reading buddy with a little girl named Shiloh. Shiloh was struck with Leukemia when she was five and just celebrated her seventh birthday on October 1st. Following her treatments I would sit and read to her and she really enjoyed books like Huck Finn and Black Beauty. It was a mutual relationship because we seemed to fill a void for each other.
While I was in the hospital last night Shiloh had the nurse wheel her into my room and she brought her favorite book with her, Ten Thousand Leagues under the Sea. She told me that it was her turn to read to me.
I was informed by my doctor this morning that Shiloh had taken a turn for the worst and her little organs began to shut down through out the night. When I was released about ten this morning I went in to tell Shiloh that I would be dropping by sometime the end of the week to see her. I found out that she had died just an hour before I was released from the hospital.
Of course, I was very shocked and saddened … not just for her and her family, but for all those other kids still on the children’s wing who may suffer the same fate. I know Shiloh is in a better place and her pain is gone, but the pain seems ten fold when it is a child.
My request:
On Saturday night at eight p.m. others that I know from my treatment sessions both now and three years ago, are going to get together and have a silent prayer session for Shiloh’s family and for those suffering with Leukemia. If you are available at that time, no matter where you are, and can add your faith in prayer to our circle that would be wonderful. Furthermore, if you can copy and past this message to friends and family who might be willing as well, that would be great.
Thanks and God Bless, Dianne

Dianne,
I am sure you touched Shiloh's short life in a very special way. I will say a prayer for her family and for the other little children who are suffering from this terrible disease.

Hi Dianne,
That is so sad about Shiloh. I know the death of someone is hard to take but when it is a small child it is a lot worse. If there is anything I can do to help you feel better just let me know.

I'm so glad you had that special time with Shiloh. What a touching story. It nearly made me cry...it was so sad. But I'm glad you and her were able to read to one another and share time together. -Kristi

Dianne,
I am so sorry for your loss. What a precious story. How special you must have been to that little girl, Shiloh. Of course, I will say a prayer, as well... for Shiloh’s family and for those suffering with Leukemia.

Thanks everyone!
Yes, sometimes it can seem that the weight is heavy ... but I always go with the thought that there is always someone out there worse off. All we can do is enjoy life to the fullest and love those around us.
Remember, every second of your life is a second you can never get back ... don't waste a minute of it on wasted energy and things that don't matter. MAKE THE MEMORIES because that is what will last in the end!
