I do recall Marsha Woolery wore something like one of Betsy's outfits to the party the Waltons had for burning their mortgage. I think Jim Bob or Elizabeth referred to her as a hussy. Perhaps, Betys's outfits were designed to show us or remind us just how much older she was than Jim Bob in age and in experience.

Hi everyone! I've been a Waltons fan since I was a child so I am happy to have found this forum! I'll pitch straight in with a question as I have been enjoying a run of the Waltons series and have just been watching 'The Silver Wings' episode where Jim-Bob falls in love with a young army(?) wife whose hubby is away. Betsy is played by Patsy Rahn and here's my questions... Am I the only one who thinks Betsy dresses kind of 'provocative' for the time and environment they are living in...? in one scene she is wearing a tiny midriff top which you'd never see Mary-Ellen or Erin wearing! was Patsy Rahn a sportswoman of some kind as she displays really toned arms... Just interested to see what anyone else thinks ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I think I can see why Jim-bob had the hots for her. that's what I think. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

It was a 1970s show about the 30s and40s There was going to be some crossover. I saw youn Mary Ellen wear some hot cutoff pants in Season 1 1972 when that was popular not the 30s. It's not perfect and for the audience and ratings.

I just watched this episode today. It was re-run on True Entertainment here in the U.K.Although Patsy`s character may of been revealing a little, I do not think it was of much concern. It was only shorts and a crop top!Betsy was a modern, forward thinking woman. Her husband being a pilot may of gone for a "trophy" girl.In the context of the story she needed to look good to catch Jim Bob`s eye. I think it would of been difficult to make the attractive Patsy Rahn look plain! Betsy wasn`t really a mountain girl so she would of been influenced by the modern world, the women on the bases her husband was stationed?Walton Mountain was a little backwater when it came to fashion!

I thought she was dressed too provocatively not just for the era but because she was a married woman and I don't think a married woman especially at that time would have dressed to draw the attention of other men. Would she have dressed that way if her husband had been there?
