Sad News - John McGreevey Passed Away -

If this information has already been posted somewhere, please disregard this post. I was recently informed that Mr. John McGreevey passed away on November 24, 2010. He will be missed by all of us who knew and loved him. I had the privilege of meeting him, as many of you did who attended our reunions in California. He was always so supportive of our fan club. I always enjoyed the episodes that he wrote on The Walton's.

Our love and prayers are extended to his lovely wife, Nota and son, Michael McGreevey.

In memory of Mr. McGreevey, I think it would be interesting for us to share our favorite episodes that he penned on The Walton's. What do you think?

Thank you, Mr. John McGreevey for touching so many lives the world over through your script writings. You will live on in our heart forever each time we watch a Walton episode.

Carolyn, thank you for sharing with us the news of Mr. McGreevey's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I think that, of all of the Walton episodes that Mr. McGreevey wrote, my favorites include The Easter Story, The Honeymoon, The Burnout, The Big Brother and The Best Christmas. As a tribute to him, I think that I will begin right now an all-night marathon watching all of the episodes that he penned.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I had the privilege of meething John McGreevey and his wife in 2007 at the California reunion. I thik my favorite episode of his was The Scholar, which was the episode that introduced us to the character of Verdie Grant Foster, played by Lynn Hamilton. Mr. McGreevey won an Emmy for writing that episode.

I just went through the list of episodes written by JohnMcGreevey and I remember a lot of them.One
which I did not watch was shown 55 years ago tonight---on the Hienz 57 Playhouse----the Girl in the Bathing Suit. In this episode William Schallert
appeared, and there is a Walton connection as he later played the part of
Stanlely Perkins, Rose Burton's beau.

I watched a great many of the Family Affair, Gidget, My Three Sons, Flying Nun,Doris Day, Room 222 and
other episodes.

I knew he had written episodes of "My Three Sons" and "The Waltons",being a big fan of both shows. I had forgotten about "Family Affair". R.I.P. John McGreevey.

I too am very saddened by the passing of John McGreevey. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the 2007 reunion and it was the biggest thrill. What a lovely, humble man he was. I always loved his episodes. Let's not forget that he wrote both The Hunt (first episode produced) and The Foundling (first episode aired). I love his humor in The First Day, when John Boy heads off to college. He really captures John Boy's wide eyed innocence. Two parters The Easter Story and The Burnout were both written by this gifted man. At this time of the year, in the leadup to Christmas, I will also be remembering him by watching The Best Christmas and The Children's Carol.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. How lucky we are to have his legacy.

So sad to hear of his passing. I along with many others signed a get-well card for him just this October at the Reunion before the Banquet dinner. I also have this photo of him and Earl Hamner on the waltons set I wanted to get signed, but looks like that's not going to happen now.

I am really sorry to hear this sad news. I knew John McGreevey had written several episodes of The Waltons but I didn´t know he has written so many scipts for so many different TV shows.
I think my favorite episode is The Best Christmas. Manfred and I watch it every Christmas Eve after dinner. We love it.

Greetings, I too had the honor of meeting John McGreevy and his wife. Great folks....extremely friendly. He is "Mr. TV" as he had been around TV since the beginning.

Question...remember the episdoe (The Braggart.....1973..... Hobart 'Hobie' Shank) when a young ball player stayed at the Waltons's house waiting for the baseball scout to stop by. He broke him arm so he couldn't play ball any longer. Well this young actor's name is Michael McGreevey who just happens to be John's son I do believe. Can any one confirm?
