You can't go wrong by getting a boy to talk about himself. Tell him you heard he skateboards. Then tell him you tried it but fell on your butt. Maybe he'll offer to teach you. 😏 Hey thanks, that is a great idea. That would be fun too. I have to admit even though I'm almost 17, I'm still trying to get used to navigating this whole "boy-girl" relationship thing. I haven't gone on a bona-fide solo date with a boy and my parents do have rather strict rules above dating. I have had a couple boys show interest in me and I have been asked out. ( I politely declined) There is one guy who I used to be crazy about and he once gave a quick split-second kiss, but he is now dating someone else😦 So I'm afraid I really have no insight or older sisterly advice, but I do like Patrciaanne's advice on just be yourself and getting the boy to talk about himself..

Thanks big sis. I am going to Youth Group tonight so I will give it a go and talk with him if he is there. I am already nervous.

@emmy, like I mentioned in another thread keep following your dreams. It not only does it seem like you have a strong ambition for dancing which is something that will take you far it also sounds like for a young lady you are really grounded and also surrounded by some great people like your mom.
As for the boy situation, the only advice I have for you is you are still very young and there will be many other boys knocking on your door as you get older. Don't go all haywire over this first boy and just take things really slowly and just have fun and be friends. I have raised two girls. My oldest is 23 years old and is now married with a 3 year old daughter(my granddaughter). She was boy crazy and ended up marrying really young because of it. She is happy and her little girl is adorable. My youngest daughter is 18 years old and is graduating high school this year. I really think she learned something from my oldest daughter. She was not really into boys much until this year when she met a boy back in October. This was her first boyfriend. She is still with him today. So take things slowly and just have fun and be friends. You are so young.
