I have always wondered if people know there is a celebrity in a car (or train in Easton's case) passing directly in front of them, what is their level of excitement? Do they actually feel they "saw" the celebrity? I would assume it is somewhat of a thrill to be in close proximity to anyone of a celebrated stature, but how would they feel about waiting hours and hours JUST to see a specific mode of transport? My husband and I have a lot in common. One thing we both heartily agree on is our distaste for waiting!! My husband jokes that he wouldn't even wait in line for free money! SERIOUSLY? FREE MONEY? I think he doth protest too much! He knows this feeling originated when he was in the army. I would think that, as a psychiatrist, that once he identified the origin of this aversion, he would want to address it, confront his feelings and deal with them and move on, right? Nah! I think he just likes to complain!
I think I have mentioned on the Forum before that I live 2 blocks away from George Clooney. During the 2016 Presidential campaign, George hosted a fundraising event for Hillary Clinton. Our daughter, ever the journalist, wanted to wait near the entrance to his street "just to say I have seen a Presidential motorcade." Even though I pointed out that it couldn't be considered a Presidential motorcade until she won, Nikki would not be deterred.
Two days prior to the event, there were signs posted at the entrance to all the neighborhood explaining that "only residents with valid, picture ID will be admitted to the area." We were told the Secret Service would be verifying identification. Since Nikki moved out of our home years ago, her driver's license had her home address, not ours. So, she decided to come to our house and sleep over so she could walk to the area, thus by-passing the checkpoint. I told you my kid is smart!!
I think Nikki went down to the area about 90 minutes prior to Hillary's arrival. Of course, the motorcade was not on time, even though the LA police had closed down part of Laurel Canyon which leads to our area, Finally, after about 2.5 hours, the 3 car motorcade (no sirens or lights) zoomed past the group of supporters. It took all of 15 seconds!
One of my friends who lives across the street from the Clooneys said they sent a nice bottle of wine to each of the houses on his block with a thank you note of appreciation for their understanding and patience. She said nobody was truly bothered. I told her - "Well, I'm sure the Republicans on the street weren't thrilled!"
So, my question to the Walton fans: how long would you - or have you - waited to meet or speak to any cast member of the show? Do you feel it was worth the wait? Thinking outside the Walton bubble, who would you consider waiting hours for - just to catch a glimpse of their car? ?

I think it would be a name-dropping bragging point to say to friends that you saw 'so-and-so' through their car window, perhaps with the added embellishment of 'I waved at them and they waved back'. Back when the Royals came through Brighton, there was a 'Royal Train' reserved solely for Royal visits. It was virtually impossible to know which car she was in let alone where she was sitting.
But I saw the train and knew she was on it!

Well my husband will tell you that at a Waltons reunion in Schuyler, we waited far too long to get photos taken by the pony cart. I would never have waited as long as I did, but we had prepaid. As it was, I was never able to get one with David Harper because my body just gave out. Between my very bad knees (one has since been replaced) and what was probably (undiagnosed at the time) chronic Lyme disease, I was crippled at the end of that day. Luckily we had gotten a nice room with a jacuzzi and that brought me back to life for dinner -- along with a handful of Advil. I don't think there is anyone I'd wait that long for now. Life is too short and I won't put myself through that pain. By the way, Tracey, flossieskid I recalled you asking where the scene was filmed when Grandpa, the two war orphans (one being Kami's brother) and Elizabeth went to cut down a Christmas tree. Kami answered it on her Facebook page, and she said it was Franklin Canyon.

Well, dear, Patriciaanne, I continue to "kick myself" today for not knowing that you and I were waiting in that same line. I did manage to get a pic with Kami and Rachel and told them that they were longsuffering for their patience. They both laughed about that!!!

patriciaanne , I was in that same line. I had my pony cart picture taken with Eric Scott that day, but more importantly, I got to meet forum member nedandres , who came up to me and introduced himself while I was waiting in that line. Afterwards, I regretted that I did not take a photo of my forum friend while I was waiting, but I did get a photo with him at another Waltons gathering. I hope he doesn’t mind that I post it here. And this is my pony cart photo with Eric Scott.

^ Is that an original prop? Do you know if Eric and Beulah actually painted the bits they painted on the show?

^ Is that an original prop? Do you know if Eric and Beulah actually painted the bits they painted on the show? Yes, it is the original pony cart. There is a story online about how the museum acquired it, but I can’t seem to find it. But if I remember correctly, someone at Warner Bros found it in storage and contacted a cast member (David Harper maybe?). The cast member contacted someone connected to the museum, a uhaul was rented, and it was driven across the country from California to Virginia. I’m not sure everything about this story is correct, but that’s how I remember it. Someone else might know more. But yes, it is the original pony cart from the show. As for who painted it, I seem to remember either Judy or Kami addressing this, and they said Beulah and Eric did not paint it. Likely it was someone from the props dept.

I assumed that the cart was build and painted by the props department (as evidenced in the thread you linked to), but there were a few short scenes of Beulah painting and I was curious if she painted on the actual cart or just on a piece of board. It would have been a nice touch if some of Beulah's handiwork can still be seen.

It would have been a nice touch if some of Beulah's handiwork can still be seen. I would not be surprised if Beulah did do some small bits of painting on the cart. Eric Scott is likely the only person who can answer that since I think he was part of those scenes.

My mother and I waited a couple hours to listen to George W. Bush speak about 10 years ago. We ended up sitting about 6 ft. away from him during his lecture. My mother was awestruck. We did also hear Hillary speak in person, when she was promoting a book she had written. I'm sure we waited in line a few hours to find a seat for that event also.
Those events hold good memories for me - as my mother and I liked to meet celebrities and politicians in person (a hobby of ours). My mother passed away in 2019.
Some others we have had the pleasure of speaking to in person:
Caroline Kennedy Laura Bush (former First Lady) Scott Kelly (Astronaut) Paula Deen Clint Hill (JFK bodyguard) Don Knotts Barbara Eden Michael Learned Richard Thomas

I have never met any of the Waltons but it sure would be a experience
I don't even know what I would say
Probably something like "I enjoy the show and wish their was more like it in today's world"

Not my favorite thing to do, but it must be done. Our oldest son stayed in the US. He is studying office management at Cedarville University in Ohio.😊

I have young legs so I would wait a long time to meet Kami for sure.
The Pony Cart photos are really awesome. Being near an original prop like that is really special.
