No matter how many times I've seen The Empty Nest the last scene where every family member speaks to grandpa over that beautiful piece of music, well it always gets to me. Although it's John Walton's words to his father finally saying to him, "and I guess will be staying around here, probably forever" that really drive home maybe the most poignant moment of the entire series. I've said it too many times in this group but this is where the show should've ended it's run it was one of the highest points of the nine seasons. Either way I still think The Waltons are way better than anything on television today.

I really enjoy watching it and it’s never boring because each time you watch you see things you didn’t see before. Lots of good life lessons that I can really appreciate. My father died when I was 3 years old so some of the things I see in Grandpa and John really hit home. |
