If the producers had some regret then why not bring him back from the dead like they did with Curt? I'll tell you what that was a stretch bringing back Curt in The Tempest after honoring him in The Medal and why I thought as much as I love The Waltons it should've ended with The Empty Nest. Although years ago while in film school I met Lawrence Katzman who was a producer on Dallas and for my mom I asked him about JR Ewing being shot dead and he answered like this, unless you see dirt getting shoveled on the body no one's dead. We saw G.W. buried so not to much of a chance bringing him back and with Curt it could happen even though the explanation was shaky after supposedly being killed at Pearl Harbor. What doesn't make sense to me about Curt being assumed dead is how could they think someone else was Curt? Curt would have been treated for his injury in the military hospital. Since he was on staff there wouldn't they have known who he was? And since his injury was umm....... below the waist he should have known his own identity and been able to identify himself. I can't imagine the Army would intentionally decieve a family member into believing their loved one was dead because the injured soldier doesn't want their family to know about the injury.

It was like a bad soap opera cliche.
