I've been on an ice cream kick lately. I've been buying Edy's brand strawberry and chocolate.
Our major grocer in the area is Giant Eagle and surprisingly, their own brand vanilla and chocolate is quite tasty. They used to make a Strawberry Cheesecake Gelato that was to die for. Sadly, they stopped making it.
On my last shopping trip, I bought a tub of strawberry sherbet. I hadn't had sherbet in several years. It was very yummy. I ate half the tub when I first opened it.
The best ice cream around here is called Honey Hut Ice Cream. They opened a liitle shop in 1974, which was just down the street from where I grew up. On a hot summer evening the line is ridiculously long. I haven't had it a long time. They now have several locations and have a contract with the Cleveland Metroparks and sell their ice cream at the parks and beaches.

I have been making ice cream at home since I got an ice cream maker a few years ago. I have a good recipe for chocolate, but homemade strawberry sounds great. I did try it once or twice, but it was icy and not a creamy as I would have liked. I think I needed to reduce the strawberry liquid more.

Homemade ice cream is one of our family traditions and I love icream. Summer evenings I love to sit on our porch or under my favourite tree and watch lightning bugs and look at the stars. I remember before my sister's went off to college, if we went to town we frequently stopped foe ice cream. I love the Dairy Queen Blizzard. Sometimes just a cone or sundae and on a rare occasion a banana split. We also had a favourite ice cream palour but it closed down😟 my favourite flavors are strawberry and cookie dough.
Do you like your ice cream in a bowl/ dish or a cone? If a cone- waffle cone, sugar cone, cake cone?
My choice sugar cone.

My choice sugar cone. I like the soft serve in a bowl at Dairy Queen. Especially the chocolate/vanilla swirl with peanut butter topping. |
