How many times did we see this character? It seems like only in season one. Does he make another appearance in the movie, Walton Easter (or Easter on Walton's mountain)?

Info from the “All About The Waltons” site: “Hawthorne Dooley is the local preacher at the black church. He appeared in The Homecoming as played by Cleavon Little but only appeared twice in the series, "The Hunt" (s1-ep4) and "The Fire" (s1-ep16).” He was played by actor Theodore Wilson in the series. www.allaboutthewaltons.com/cast/locals.php

Maybe not shown, but mentioned? I know we see Verdie in the movie.

I would've love for Gene Wilder to have been in an episode of the Waltons.

What a fabulous name Hawthorne Dooley is probably my favourite name of all the Waltons characters. I think Hawthorne would be a fabulous name for either a cat or a dog!😀🐶🐱

Cleavon Little also appeared in the season 4 episode “The Fighter,” but not as Hawthorne Dooley (but as another preacher).

"Dr. Frankenstein?" "It's pronounced 'FRON-kon-steen'." "Do you also say 'FROO-drick?" "No. It's Fredrick. You must be Igor." "Now it's pronounced 'EYE-gore'." "They told me it was Igor." "Well, they were wrong, then, weren't they?"

We discovered in 'The Hunt' that John-Boy's nickname was 'Sprocket', but he didn't want to be called that anymore. Charlie Snead gave him the nickname when John-Boy was a kid. I'm glad they dropped it.
"Goodnight, Ben." "Goodnight, Momma. Goodnight, Daddy." "Goodnight Ben. Goodnight Mary Ellen." "Goodnight, Daddy. Goodnight, Sprocket." .......
Nope. Doesn't work for me.
