There are a few scenes in The Waltons which show either the kids or the grandparents building jigsaw puzzle either on the kitchen table or, I think in the episode with Ron Howard, on a bed in the boys' bedroom.
It's unlikely that the puzzles would have been finished in one sitting, so what did they do with them when it was time to eat or sleep? I could understand if they were being built on either a sheet of plywood, which has been around for centuries, or a sheet of cardboard, but table cloths and bedspreads? Not so much.
I used to build puzzles all the time and had a card table dedicated to them, but I simply don't have room for them now. I used to love building those 3D puzzles, but I would have to take them down again as soon as I finished them. There simply wasn't room on my bookshelves the Notre Dame Cathedral or the Empire State Building.
So, are you a puzzle person? My favourites were old art, rural landscapes, and Thomas Kinkade paintings.

I never had the patience for them.

My aunt was. I found them boring when I was younger. Now I don't have any patience.

I love jigsaw puzzles and have several boxes of them. They are all smaller piece wise, 500 pieces. Bought a card table specifically to do puzzles on. But of course I soon had to put it to another use. The last time I tried to do a puzzle, my cat became very interested . Don’t think I have to say any more! Anyway, hope to have a spare bedroom set up for crafts and puzzle working. I also have a couple of (supposedly) simple Lego kits (including one with a Christmas theme).
