I don't recall Flossie ever discussing the death of her husband. I haven't really followed the Flossie character too closely though.
What I did notice in several episodes in Season 5 she is wearing a wedding ring. Also, in the episode where John Boy sells the land that grandpa gave to him (the Meadow), the community is standing on Walton's Mountain and Flossie appears to be standing along side a nice looking older gentlemen. This was in Season 5 also.
Just curious if the death of Mr. Brimmer was ever really discussed on the show.

She did mention her husband occasionally. In the episode The Secret, I seem to remember her saying something about how much her husband enjoyed having the children stay with them when Jim Bob was born. In The Firestorm, we found out that her husband was German. And in The Rumor, her husband’s German relatives, Willie Brimmer and his family, came to live on Waltons Mountain. I think we can assume that her husband had died, and Flossie was supporting herself by renting rooms in her house. I’ve noticed the man you mentioned too, and I’ve wondered who he was. Perhaps he was just a friend or even one of her boarders.

I didn't particularly like that scene with Olivia's hair and Flossie sitting there talking about her problems.
Suddenly John drives up, offers to take her off to a hotel for a romantic night or weekend or something, and she's thrilled, of course, and goes off with John. Now that didn't surprise me that she was thrilled after all she'd been through with her hair and how seldom they got to do anything like that, but it just seemed a bit cruel for it to happen right in front of Flossie, who was not having a good time at the moment.
Olivia didn't even say anything to excuse herself -- which is unusual since they were always ultra polite in that show -- and ran off. Had I been Flossie, while I would have been happy for my friend Olivia, it would have made me feel even worse.
And the comment Curt made about "You are fat!" was just rude. I know it's a TV show and part of the type of character they were showing him to be, but anybody in any job should know better than to say something like that. Besides, she wasn't fat. She was an older woman that had put on some weight. She had problems with her feet, which wouldn't make her want to be up and exercising. But I was never a Curt fan
