I wrote a short reply to Easton when I mentioned that my TIVO machine will record my parents programs even when they aren’t credited. I had mentioned this before, but was expressing amazement that TIVO will tape something in which they aren’t credited, but when I input shows where I KNOW my Mom or Dad had a nice role, it never records those! VERY frustrating!
Before Flossie, my Mom did play many maids, nurses, mothers (In “Bachelor Father”- dressed even in jewels). But she had a wonderful role in the TV Movie “Queen of the Stardust Ballroom” with Maureen Stapleton and Charles Durning. She LOVED that role since she was dressed to the “nines” and she had always adored dancing! Plus, she also did a bump and grind and even wore a tiara! I doubt Cora Beth would approve! It also was the only show my brother Denis worked on with either of my parents. He was a location manager.
Mom also had a very cute opening scene in “Starskey and Hutch” where Paul Michael Glaser plays a dancing instructor “Ramon” and my Mom wants him to “Dip her!!” It was funny.
Those parts were few and far between. But, she felt so blessed that she got to play “Flossie Brimmer” on The Waltons and felt she did her best work among the most talented people and friends she had the pleasure to work with.

Interesting that Paul Michael Glaser played The Airmail Man in Season 2 of The Waltons while your mother was playing Flossie. She was still playing Flossie when she asked Paul to 'dip her'. Another Walton connection.
I won't comment on her frocks. An authority I'm not.

Easton - you know more about Flossie than I do! I thought she did the “Starsky and Hutch” show way before The Waltons. Just not sure of the dates!
As I have previously mentioned, Flossie’s clothes were somewhat repetitive, so my Mom was always thrilled when she could wear some very nice clothes. She appeared 3 times on our good friend Bob Newhart’s first series as: a patient who discovered the “nerf bat” to release internal anger (great pantsuit!); an Assistant to character Emily’s Vice Principal at a school ( nice skirt, sweater and scarf, I think) and finally as one of Emily’s school board members evaluating whether a sex education book is appropriate for the students (in a lovely dress and pretty jewelry-her own).
Since most of her clothes were usually forgettable on The Waltons, with the exception of the purple ensemble in “The Firestorm”, she always loved getting away from the uniforms and dowdy attire. Sadly, the depression years on Walton’s mountain did not produce “fashion plates” of any degree, but I always liked the hats every lady wore to church!!

Did your mother ever have a chance to meet or work with Lucille Ball?

The Bob Newhart Show was during the Waltons years as well, and your mother is listed on Newhart's IMDb page as 'Joanie' in one episode and 'Mrs. Manning' in 2 episodes.
And another Waltons connection: Merie Earle was also in 3 episodes of The Bob Newhart Show as 'Mrs. Loomis' although not in the same episodes as your mom.

In answer to your question Patricia Anne, my Mom never met or worked with Lucille Ball. But, she and my Dad were uncredited in the movie of “The Black Daliah” starring her daughter Lucie Arnaz. They played a married couple who picked up Lucie and had a very quick scene with her. When Lucille Ball died, I knew her home address (most anyone in Hollywood knew her house, across the street from Jimmy Stewart in Beverly Hills) so, I sent a condolence letter and referenced my parents and my connection to “Little Ricky”. About 8 months after I sent the letter, I got a lovely note from Lucie thanking me for the note and she was very sweet about my parents and “her brother Little Ricky”. Before my husband became a psychiatrist, he was a professional trumpet player and was in the small band that played a party on New Year’s Eve at the home of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
Bob Newhart is one of the most delightful men ever! He married Virginia (Ginnie) Quinn, the daughter of character actor, Bill Quinn who was an incredible character actor. He played Mary Tyler Moore’s father on her series and the blind bar customer on “Archie’s Place” the show with Carroll O’Conner after “All in the Family.” My folks met and worked with Bill in radio in NY. Ginnie used to babysit my brother and me. In a full circle moment, Bob and Ginnie’s daughter, Jennifer, babysat our son Ryan. Jennifer went on to marry Jon Bon Jovi’s brother and was with Joe Bongiovani for several years. One tangential connection of my Mom to Lucille Ball is that Mom’s stand-in on “Governor and JJ”, Janet Todd, was the stand in for Elizabeth Taylor when she and Richard Burton starred on the Lucy Show. Again, as Easton pointed out, between all the stars on The Waltons and all the many other shows “Flossie” was on, I should know EVERY ACTOR ON EARTH!!

^ I feel like such a doofus. Until I read your post just now, I didn't realise that you were posting from a mobile. All this time I've been explaining how to do things as if you were using a laptop or a computer. I've never even used a cell phone let alone surf the net or visit a forum with one.
If I've messed with your brain trying to explain how to do something you can't even do, I offer my most humble apologies.
I feel a bit like a librarian trying to explain black holes to Stephen Hawking. (May he rest in peace.)

Tracey, This has nothing to do with Flossie’s fancy frocks, but I’m posting it here because I want you to see it. Mary McDonough posted this photo on Facebook. She said it’s from an event at Warner Bros in 2012. Notice the sign.

So nice that Lucie Arnaz responded to your note. She's always seemed like a very genuine, well-grounded person in the interviews I've seen of her. And a tangential relationship to the Waltons...she was briefly the sister-in-law of a two-time Waltons guest star -- Linda Purl. (I hope I got her name right -- I didn't double check it.)

Brenda - thank you for the photo - LOVE IT!! Gosh, I don’t even think I have seen that sign even on the show. Great to see! Thank you for sharing it. Easton, I’m curious: how did you determine I always use my phone to access the forum? I did figure your detailed instructions were for use on a computer. I am planning on getting a new MacBook soon. So, I kept all your terrific instructions for use in the future. PatriciaAnne, I appreciate the info about Linda Purl. I haven’t seen her episodes. I’ll have to keep an eye out for them. I was just reading about her new, very serious romance with “Dallas” star Patrick Duffy. They reconnected after his wife of 40 years died from cancer. I remember when a hunky Patrick Duffy starred with my friend Belinda Montgomery on “Man From Atlantis”. Now he has white hair! Boy - I am feeling so darn old…….

I don’t remember ever seeing the sign on the show either, but I’m not the most observant person in the world. I’m going to look for it next time Flossie’s boarding house is featured in an episode.

Easton, I’m curious: how did you determine I always use my phone to access the forum? No magic and I'm not psychic. It's posted at the top of your posts.
When I noticed it yesterday, I went back to look at your older posts and there it was. All people who post from their phones have that notification at the top, at least from my point of view.
If you look at the top of my post, all you should see is the time stamp.
PS - I used to love Man from Atlantis. Not much of a Dallas guy, though.
