I remember one event where an actress was in some race and leaped over an obstacle and twisted her ankle badly and I am pretty sure it was Judy but I am not 100% sure.

I think you're correct. I believe she mentioned that in one of her videos. In fact, I believe Tom Selleck carried her off the field and Judy was impressed that she was carried off by the sexiest man on television at the time. (I think it was an episode of 'The Battle of the Network Stars'.) |

Would a dance marathon be considered an athletic event? Bruce Dern was in a dance marathon movie called "They Shoot Horses, Don't They" which won 5 academy awards. Bruce was also an athlete. running in the Olympic Trials in the 800m. We were in the same running club, the Culver City Athletic Club and competed in several races together. If he qualifies as an athlete, then I give you my vote. It is an athletic event.  |

^ Jane Fonda was in that movie as well and she's still quite athletic.

Wasn't there a scene in one of the episodes where they are throwing a football around? There was, it was the episode where John Boy tutors a football player from Boatwright University and he comes to the Walton home and they play a little football in the front yard. It is also when John Boy has to defend the football player from the honor code for cheating on the test in the class. |

There’s also the episode “The Braggart” when there’s a Walton’s Mountain baseball team. Outside of Mary Ellen, I’m not sure any of the other kids ever really talked about sports outside of a the episodes we’ve discussed here

In the episode where Mary Ellen and Erin do the race and ride together and have the wagers,both of them look pretty athletic. Erin at the end looks like she is a pretty good runner to out sprint that guy at the end.

Judy (who is a horse rider) said in one of her videos that Mary wasn't very good with horses. She had to learn to ride for the episode.
