We're taking the autumn color tour this coming October and will be going through Virginia. I wonder how close to Lynchburg we'd be, and if we came that late in the month, would we miss the height of the leaf colors?

Hey ssMarilyn. That is usually the height of the leaf colors here in Indiana and it was in Virginia in 2008 when we were there. I might suggest that you go north first and then come down to Virginia cause colors change faster the farther north you go. I guess you know that already, living in Minnesota.

I'm pretty sure we'll be going through that area in the early part of October...but aren't sure yet. Nuts. You can just call me Marilyn if you want.

Marilyn, The fall foliage peak in southwestern Virginia is about the same as the area of West Virginia where I live, which is usually sometime from mid to late October, depending on the weather. So, if we are lucky, the weekend of the reunion should be just about perfect for beautiful fall colors. I love the drive from our home in Huntington, WV, to either Charlottesville or Lynchburg. We have about a 5 hour drive on I-64/77, which includes the West Virginia turnpike. There are many beautiful scenic lookouts along the turnpike, and the fall colors are brilliant at that time of year. I hope you make it to the reunion. This website gives typical dates for fall foliage in Virginia. gosoutheast.about.com/od/wintereventsfestivals/ss/fall_foliage_2.htmBrenda

Thanks for the heads up Brenda. I'm compiling a folder with all the fall color info I'm finding online and from others, and are hoping it will make our trip alot more organized and in the end, BETTER.

Yeah, Ryan's is correct!!! I'm working on making plans to attend the reunion with Ryan. We have had a lot of conversation these past few months....and Ryan's pretty much like a "brother" to me.... but yeah pending everything works out with the money and such....we'll be going to to the reunion!! Thanks Ryan...I say in a public manner....for your friendship, kindness and support....to me personally and also your support of our VideosForFamily.com web site! So great to have you on board with the rest of the team!!

Isn't it exciting to have something like this to look forward too just before winter blows in!
